..looking at those goals after a bucket of dark rum, a couple of jurgemeisters, a few g&t's and a glass of sangria it was a lovely little turn by Dowell. I like footballers who take a football on the spin, I know some are thinking the goalie should have stopped it but I guarantee that the pure kickers of a ball generate immense power with a short backlift. That young African keeper will not be unique where Kieran Dowell is concerned.

Loved Rooney's goal but Lookman's part in it shouldn't be underestimated. Lookman has special ability.

It was a great goal but by Dowell's standards nothing special. I really hope Koeman gives him some opportunities this season, he's crying out to play with better players.

Dowell's for me. Rooney has been doing them since he was 16 and the confidence to do it has never left him. Dowell's been doing them since he was 16 too but at a lower level , and for about 5 months before Christmas he seemed to lose the confidence to hit a strike like that. I think the shot against the bar gave him the confidence to try the shot, superb technique to generate power with little back lift.

...Dowell is Sheedy reincarnated. Rooney is Rooney reincarnated. Both crackers, gone for Croxteth over Ormskirk.

Your saying one of our players is like Rooney? High praise indeed.

Dowell's. Keeper off his line a fair bit for Rooney's. Never seen Kieran hit a shot that hard he usually bends them in.

Rooney had the football brain and experience to see that, hence the shot. He would not have shot from there if the keeper was well placed. For that reason I vote Croxteth
