Who would ever leave us?

Are we at risk of losing any of our key players?

Today Carragher was on about how he thinks Barkley should give us another 2-3 years whilst 5 minutes later he was on about how Gerrard had stayed loyal and deserved credit/PL title for it. Its one or the other for me.
Depends what colour kit you wear mate. Everton would be holding back Barkley, wereas Gerrard remained loyal to Liverpool even during difficult times.

Mirallas would leave I reckon he doesn't seem the type to stay at a club for long and eventually Alcaraz as bobby said he goes to a club does his best then runs down his contract and leaves on a free.

Looks like Alcaraz will do that before barely kicking a ball for us.

And begs the question why did Martinez buy him anyway?

The look on Miralles's face after he scored on Sunday might point towards him looking to a club that doesn't "rotate" him

Aye lot to be said for being threatened into staying loyal to a club by gangsters like, deserves a PL trophy that does lol

Good luck to him then if he thinks he'd be a every game starter for any of the other top 7 teams like, modern footy is all about rotation at this part of the season like

The argument could be made every club is a selling club to a certain stand point but our club is a selling club on a different scale.
Compared to whom?

Everyone sells, a lot. We're no worse than anyone below us. City and Chelsea normally only sell when they have no use for a player, but it's a myth that we sell more than other teams.

We sell players when they want to leave, or when we have no use for them, or when the offered value is greater than the value of the player to the club. ONLY Rooney was sold for a bad price. Most of the time we make out like thieves...which we should, but don't, invest.

We don't buy, and we don't sell much, and we certainly don't invest, but it's just incorrect to say we sell more than other clubs.

there simply isn't a day that goes by that I don't worry what carragher thinks about something
Not about us though sadly. We couldnt give a toss, but he is in a position to influence a fair few people and this view of us nationally is some peniless little scamps, scraping by who exceed expectations most seasons. Even though weve been doing it for bloody ages.

I just cant believe he is paid for his thoughts, it really does take the piss

I wasn't suggesting that we sell more than other clubs.

You mentioned Rooney being sold for a bad price. I hate to bring it up again but wasn't it our leader who said he wouldn't sell Rooney for even 50m should a bid come in ? Then only weeks later Rooney is shown the door for just over half that fee.

We might not SELL much but its a well known fact that we simply give away our top top players. Bale went for how much ? Torres went for how much ? Its known around the league how desperate for cash our club is and that alerts teams to the fact that they don't have to pay over the odds to sign our top talent.

Barkley has incredible potential and is on the verge of lighting up the football world but he wouldn't go for 80m in 2 or 3 years time, why ? ......... because teams know they could grab him for 40 or 50 instead.

This worries me.

What more do you expect from a rs dominated media though mate than that line of talk
I expect it but i dont like it at all. Im not screaming conspiracy here but having enough people think we are a small club, it then becomes consensus. Because we then dont throw money round like drunken rappers, it does nothing to dispell the myth and then becomes pretty much the truth and we have a hell of a time competing for new fans against those teams that spend irresponsibly and we cant generate additional income. We've had to defend our status as a bigger club than Newcastle this season FFS.

Players I see as 'Key' (Ours, and essential to the team's good performances now and into the future)
Baines
Jagielka
Coleman
McCarthy
Barkley
Stones
Oviedo

I cannot see any of them leaving us in the near future. Even our less so key players, I can only see going home at the end of their careers, such as Howard, Pienaar, Naismith, McGeady possibly.

My main worry is Mirallas, although I do believe he will stay. Can only see Gueye and Vellios moving on this window.
