When Rooney burst into the first team at Everton he stood out so much that he made the seasoned proffesionals look distinctly average. That year we came very close to being relegated in what was Moyes worst season with us. It seems strange, when you have a brilliant player that carries a team, that the team seemed to suffer. Fast forward a decade or so and we had Barkley out shine everyone in the Everton team and, as we all know, Moyes removed him from the team. Again this left most of us scratching our heads because he was the glimmer of hope. Eventually we recovered and had a good finish to the season. Now then, Liverpool. Quite similar circumstances really. A young gifted footballer carrying the hopes for the red side and over shadowing every other player in the team. Rodgers, however, shows no sign of removing him from the first team and letting the seasoned professionals sort out the mess they are in.
Of course it is not a fair comparison as I'm sure many will point out but I do think that it is interseting and I hope Moyes's decision to drop Barkley is proved right by Rodgers decision to continue with Sterling and seeing them in a dog fight for premiership survival come the end of May.

I think sterling has shone since he's come into the side but I think the lack of attacking quality in their squad puts pressure on him to perform and we all know how difficult it is for youngsters who come in in a 'blaze of glory' to maintain that level of consistency. It's not so much now it's when say maybe next week against united or against a physical stoke and he's struggling how he keeps it together on the pitch and then responds in the next game . Early exposure to football can also be problematic physically dependent on his lifestyle and training regime

I guess personally I felt that in each case, Rooney, Barkley and Sterling, they have all stood out in their teams whilst their teams performed poorly.

I agree, I think Moyes will ultimately be proved right. The truth is though that we were carried at the start of last season, well our hopes were.
