Who was the king of Goodison Park?

Dad, (he who watched Dixie) could testify to having watched every Everton player from 1919 up to his death in 1989.
He watched the likes of Dean, Lawton, Young, Harvey, Kendall, Ball etc, in the flesh up to the early 1970's, but was able to follow the 1980's players courtesy of MOTD and my ball by ball replay of matches when I got home from the game.

I genuinely wish that everyone on this site had been able to listen to his encyclopedic re-telling of matches from literally decades before.

Why am I saying this? Simply because whenever he re-lived memories of watching Dixie, his eyes and demeanour lit up the room. Dean must have had something that caused that - especially when you bear in mind that he had watched Alan Ball week in, week out.

Who is the King of Goodison Park? The thing about Kings and Queens is that they reign for a finite period and are always replaced by someone else, so there are multiple right answers and no wrong ones!

The more profound debate should be 'Who is the best/ Everton player ever to have played at Goodison Park?' I'll say Nathan Patterson and sit back and watch @davek self combust! ;):D:D
