...to pass the time between transfer-drama and next weekend: this came up in a thread. Outfield players only. Best is however you wanna interpret the word.

While much respect for Dave Watson, recognising the cult factor of Dunc & Timmy, and appreciating having proper silk footballers like Beardsley & Arteta in the team, my vote's going to Rom for being the best goalscorer we've had since Lineker & Latchford. His consistent goal-scoring reminded us what it could be like to be a top team again.

In terms of sheer ability it's probably Kanchelskis but given he only gave us a bit of time and Rom was here 4 years you wouldn't be wrong for picking him

I voted for Kanchelskis. Although Beardsley (so good he is on the list twice lol) is a very close second.

They are the only two players on that list along with Lukaku and Rooney that I think are/were world class quality.

For physical attributes albeit in very different ways, Dunc and Andrei. For pure technical ability Beardsley and Pienaar, yet i would still go with Waggy as he was the last man to lift a trophy for us and hard as it is to believe stuff like that once counted at Everton

Kanchelskis is still on another level to any other player I’ve seen play for Everton. I’d have him ahead of Lukaku any day of the week. A proper Footballer, not some one trick pony. He was absolutely devastating.

he kind of was actually, it involved blistering pace and a powerful shot, but that trick was so good that for a while no one could deal with it. he lost interest too soon for me to consider him as one of the very greats, but for a period he was good as anything ive seen in blue.
