Just thought I'd throw it out there seen as though I think this is very close between Stones, Jags and Distin

Ability wise. Stones.

But that doesn't make him the best, due to experience and ability it'd probably be Jagielka. He doesn't have the ability of Stones but he is still pretty talented and has the experience and know how to go with it.

Stones one day though will be one of the best we've ever had.

Distin, how he doesn't have an international cap is beyond me. although I think Distin and Jags complement each other superbly.

Tough one to answer really, if distin was 25, then distin for me but age plays a big factor, jags still has some years left and once he gets a long run of games next season he will start being boss again, but of course stones will be in 1 year minimum for me.

Think the Jags / Distin partnership has helped both above average but not great defenders, but as for Stones........ If we can keep him in royal blue
until he is of the same age as Jags / Distin, we truly will be back where we belong!

Right now, right this second, Jags.

In a year or two, Stones will be of that I'm sure. Got caught out a few times positionally last year though never punished for his mistakes luckily, so in time he'll cut those out. The transformation into the Barnsley Beckenbauer is almost complete.

See my issue this season is.

Best Defender: Stones
On Paper Best Partnership: Stones & Jags
Position based partnership: Stones Distin

If your going to play Stones logically the partnership with Jagielka is the approach to take however im not convinced by Jagielka at left CB on top of this he looks least comfortable on the ball.

Stones & Distin made a good partnership and if Distin was 35/36 i'd be happy to see them both play together and create a partnership. But in answer to your question Stones is the best CB we have, he'll be the best CB England will have had in the last 20/30 years

Who cares. That position is all about partnerships and understanding with another player.

I'd have Distin / Jagielka by a whisker at the moment but by the end of next season surely Stones, who will go on to be better than Watson and maybe even Ratcliffe.

Jags wins hands down currently, Stones has potential to be one of the best ever English defenders but he still has a long way to go.

Once Distins pace goes he will be finished completely
