I personally feel this is the David Moyes show.

Man Utd finishined 8th or Arsenal 9th or Chelsea 5th and their managers would be sacked.

I believe Everton, overall, were thought of as a bigger club when Walter Smith and predecessors were in charge. If they finished 14th and 16th their jobs were on the line.

If Moyes finishes 17th next season, or even takes us down, his job will be safe in the eyes of the media.

I am a fair person. I have my own opinions however.

And I would like to ask you, honestly, who is bigger - David Moyes or Everton?

Everton were a bigger club under Walter Smith.

Because in my opinion it's David Moyes, and he's in a very fantastic position. It's all about Moyes and how well he's done with little old Everton, who are lucky to finish 12th, 8th, 15th or wherever we finish. Even when we finish 4th, 5th, 7th or 8th, it's all about David Moyes. Not Everton.

I want this to change and want to post a poll about it. And be honest when you answer.

Moyes gets paid a top 4 salary with no pressure to achieve anything.

Like you say we are now happy at finishing in the top 8.

I for one would be happy if Moyes had the balls to walk as he isn't backed rather than settling in his cosy office counting his 60k a week whilst still making stupid mistakes with his tactics and use of subs

Everton were thought of as a massive club even when we were struggling against relegation. If that happens now, it won't be the case. The likes of Walter Smith, an utter success at Rangers, took us over because we WERE a big club. I feel the culture of the club has now changed to the extent where David Moyes is bigger than Everton, bigger than the fanbase. This all started with him falling out with and selling Rooney. He replaced Wayne Rooney with James Beattie. No manager worth his salt would ever do that. I don't rate David Moyes. I appreciate he's got us into very good league positions, but I don't rate him at all. And I am coming clean on that with this post. I don't like that David Moyes is bigger than Everton. I grew up in an era when Everton were a big club, and David Moyes, and his ways, has changed that big time, in favour of him being the big guy. Don't care if people who wanna be politically correct find what I am saying is wrong or inaccurate. I am always ****in right.

Hmmmm...to be honest, I really don't think Moyes had any sort of say, or power, with regards to the Rooney move.

First of all to answer your question - Everton, we'll be here after Moyes has left, the club is bigger than ANY individual.

In some ways you're right, we were thought of as a bigger club when Wally was in charge, but the World of Football has changed in the last 10 years or so and it's no longer purely about history and bums on seats / attendances, it's as much about corporate deals, commercial awareness, sugar daddies.

In that respect, Moyes is worth the premium that we pay him because, given the budget constraints he operates under, he delivers. I honestly can't think of a manager who could do better who would :-

a ) Work for less cash without
b ) Just seeing EFC as a stepping stone to something "better"

** steps off soap box **

... which isn't to say Moyes, is perfect, far from it. I'd have liked to see him play some of the youngsters at the back end of the season ... BUT ... each place in the PL is worth 0.75 to 1 million pounds. DYOM

For serious? "I don't rate David Moyes, he's got us into very good league postions..."

Everton is bigger than Moyes but that doesn't change the fact he is important to us. The lulz at him not being under pressure of being sacked if he gets us relegated!

Could not agree more with your points. I hate reading news where the media all keep saying that we are so lucky to have Moyes. He is too secure in his job so why should he want to leave. I laughed when the Dark Side gave Benitez his mega deal, meaning that it would almost be impossible to sack him because of the compensation. And look who did the exact same thing! Even if the board wanted to get rid of Moyes there is no way it is going to happen as they cannot afford to pay the compensation. So sadly Moyes has become bigger than Everton, as we cannot afford to cut him away if we wanted to whereas Moyes can leave anytime he feels like it.

OMG. Rooney clearly fell out with Moyes and they even went to court about things that were said in books and such. Moyes was a taskmaster on Rooney and a manager like Harry Redknapp would have got the best out of him. Moyes sucked for falling out with Rooney and he will suck for ever more in my eyes for that and many other things. I don't think he'd succeed elsewhere and I want a better manager in. One who will stop pandering to the board and who will make his own way of doing things. We need to sign players and sell them on consistently for profit. Missing out on the likes of Dale Jennings, N'Zogbia, Brunt, O'Hara and so on is not getting us anywhere. Here is a man who spent £15m on a CM who doesn't score goals knowing we'd have no money to back that signing up. He does OK but that's it. I want a real winner in, someone like Mark Hughes or Slaven Bilic, who has unfinished business at this club. Sticking with MOyes, means Moyes gets bigger, Everton GET Smaller....

This.

He also failed to take £8m for Saha, which was more true than not, cos he said it himself. Selling Rooney and selling Lescott has got him out of jail, and he's cocked up both times. He can't move away from 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 and he even picked Beattie over Bent in the Villareal first leg. Moyes is nothing.

EVERTON ARE BIG.

In my, none too humble opinion, anyone who says they are always right is a deluded fool ( Apologies if you're just a WUM who's had a few bevvies, in which case ... hook, line and sinker ... you got me )

I support David Moyes although I don't agree with some of his tactical moves from the way I view the game.

But Everton are bigger than Moyes. Est 1878 mate.

If Moyes walked tomorrow for his own reasons, the fans will still turn up, just as in the dark days we still turned up. Nuff said really.

Everton are why we are here. I wouldn't support Valencia if moyes miraculously left us for them.

Good post son. I expect nothing less of someone that wants to defend how things are, and I can't argue with you at all, cos you are right. But as you said, in some ways, I am right. And I hope that is enough for you guys to get my drift. I want Everton big, not David Moyes. I want the blues to be big, not David Moyes.

I have never ever been wrong in my life mate. Ever. Especially when it comes to footballing matters. This thread of mine, I hope hits home with old-school Everton fans. It's those fans who will make this club great again. Trust me. Liverpudlians rule.

If this poll is not in favour of Moyes being bigger than Everton, then you are NOT being honest. We all know it. And that's what I wanna fight against.
