Impossible to say really. Reid, Bracewell, Steven etc all great players. Sharpe one of the best centre forwards of the modern(ish) age.
I'm not old enough to have seen the 60s and 70s sides but playrs like Alex Young, Alan Ball and Howard Kendall were all sublime players. Also, the likes of Roy Vernon can't be overlooked.

I'd have to say Wayne is the greatest player I ever seen in an Everton shirt but we never saw the best of him.

Ditto Gazza.

Alex Young was a bit before my time.

For sheer football ability from a man at the top of his game I will nominate Duncan McKenzie as the greatest footballer I have seen in my forty odd years of going the match.

It's just the pity we had Duncan's mercurial talents during the reign of the second most pragmatic and dour boss we ever had.

Mac the Magician is my pick.

Great question,Southall and lineker for me. Such a shame we didnt keep hold of him for longer,he was some goal machine.

I agree, Southall & Lineker for me too.

Southall - best keeper in the world at his peak
Lineker - the best goalpoacher in the world at the time

Tough one but probably Southall, weird to pick a keeper but he was different class on any pitch. Honourable mentions to Sheedy, Reid and Kanchelskis.

Agreed. I'm too young to have seen Alan Ball or Alex Young play - in my time we have had one player who was the best in the world at his position, and that was Neville Southall. His double save in the '95 FA cup final was unreal, and there were times in the lean years when he was the only reason we didn't get relegated - you can't lose if you don't concede.

As an Evertonian for over 60yrs i have been fourtunate to watch some truly great players at Everton, Alan Ball, Roy Vernon, Brian Labone and of course Neville Southall, but as the title asks who is the best player that you saw play for Everton? Unfotunatley i never ever got to see the legend that was Dixie Dean so i cannot nominate him so my choice is Alex Young. so lads you can take it from here and give us your players!!!!:lol:

Rooney

Out of the players ive physically watched, Manny fernandes had that swag that made you think he could be a superstar, Drenthe who was a head case but ive nevver seen a player that could pick up the ball dribble past 3 or 4 players and then smash it in from 30 yards with such ease, but for quality and consistency id say arteta, but when he played on the wing

Alan Ball, without question or hesitation.
Honourable mentions to Harvey and Kendall,
Sheedy and Southall
Kanchelskis
Arteta
For having something special on their day that would make me say wow did I just see that or playing with a certain style and swagger.
Rooney should have been.
Didn't see enough of Young to judge.
