Which Everton player needs to have a breakout season?

not expecting a breakthrough because it would require a lot of injuries but would like to see this junior kid in action in a few cup games or something. see if he could be our future

Rodwell. I think he's definitely got the ability to become a very good Premier League midfielder. He just needs to back himself and get a bit nasty, take a few more chances with his passing and tackling.

Coleman. I was really hoping he would become an important player for us given his early performances, but he just hasn't progressed. Maybe it's because of injuries, or other players have sussed him out, or a combination. But he certainly hasn't had the same impact since he was on the shortlist for young player of the year.

Anichebe. He's showing signs that he's improving, but with only mainly substitute appearances it's difficult to tell.

Vellios. I read somewhere on here that the coaches don't really rate him. I hope they're wrong and he goes on to have a decent season of cameo appearances and the odd start, but to be perfectly honest I can't see it.

Barkley. If Moyes grows a pair of balls and builds a team around young Ross then we could see something really special with him.

A slight tangent here, but if people are saying Rodwell and Barkley need to come to the fore, how do you see our central midfield lining up next year?

I'm assuming that Fellaini is a certainty and that we'll probably play 5 in the middle, who else will get in there? Choices appear likely to be from Gibson, Rodwell, Barkley, Naismith and Osman, so 5 players for 2 spots (assuming Cahill goes to Dubai or wherever)

Rodwell/Gibson and Osman/Barkley with Naismith on the wing. Would love to see a midfield three of Fellaini, Rodwell and Barkley.

Surely it's a good thing we have so much depth in that area so if we do get a few injuries we won't be seeing a center midfeld partnership of Heitinga and Neville again.

I notice nobody seems to have mentioned baxter, you think at 20 this guy is wrote off and and primed to leave the club in the near future ?

Remember when Rodwell was boss at the start of the season?

He was putting in some great challenges and asserting himself more strongly by using a bit of aggression.

Then that [Poor language removed] Atkinson sent him off for a perfect tackle and it all went downhill from there.
