Which Everton player needs to have a breakout season?

Rodwell - Looked class early on in the season playing a defensive mid role against City and the ****e (until he got unjustly booked vs City and moved, and well, you know the next part). I'd like to see a centre mid partnership of Rodwell and Gibson with Fellaini in the hole. I'd rather a creative player plays there like Pienaar, but Moyes has clearly made his mind up its Cahill or Fellaini.

Coleman - Needs to start at right back, because if he performs his defensive duties, we could have one of the best full backs in the league. Also, he needs game time there if only to allow the Coleman-doubters on here to rejoice in sweet harmony that they were right he can't tackle woo for doubting Everton players.

Anichebe - In fact I'll be a little surprised if he's here the start of next season. He's not getting ahead of Jelavic, hell, he's not even better than Vellios. He's put in a couple of decent shifts at RM, but he's an impact sub at best for me.

Barkley - Doesn't need to prove anything, he's probably the best technical player we have at the club. Moyes needs to play him attacking mid, we'd play sexy football. He'd also not have to be involved in this defending lark if we played him there.

Shane Duffy like to see him break through this season has to get more game time or we will lose him
to another club he is to good to be not playing every week.

Coleman if he gets back to the form of 2010-2011 season has to do something this season.

Rodwell if he stays fit and no more injuries he could be the player of the 2012-2013 season.

Anichebe sell him

Barkley keep him under wraps for another while this lad will be world class me thinks(y)

I don't agree. Like most players he needs a run of games. Until his injury problems recurred again he was improving and becoming more of an influence on our play.

If fit, he is guaranteed to be in the 18, and very likely to be in most of Moyes' starting 11. Whatever happens it is safe to say that he has probably got a career in the top-flight.

This is a bigger season for fringe players like Baxter whose career depends on it, as he is getting to the age where he needs to prove himself as good enough to start putting pressure on the first XI

Rodwell, always Rodwell. I reckon i'm his harshest critic on here.

I also expect Vellios to be even sexier next season.

Got to be Rodwell. With England flopping there's a real chance of a new midfield emerging with the likes of him, Wilshere, Cleverly et al. That's if he can push through this year and play well of course.

Next season is a big season for Rodwell, also expect Vellios to get game time coming on as a sub for Jelavic.

What do you think will be classed as break out season for the guys mentioned eg Rodwell plays 30+ games relatively injury free season, Vellios 10 goals ? Barkley 20+ games ?

Also got to agree on whats been mentioned on Jelavic had a fantastic start for us, I really hope he continues this into his first full season.

Rodwell needs to stay fit next season and show us what he can do. If he gets a run of games I'm sure he'll show what we all know he is capable of.

It would be nice to see Barkley and Duffy get some more game time this season. Barkley especially will play a part in the cup competitions this season and it would be nice for him to be brought on when there is no pressure (i.e. cruising at 2-0 up with 15/20 mins to go, if it happens). Same with Vellios, hopefully we'll see more of him next season than we did this.

Anichebe will always be an impact sub at best for us. If he isn't sold that is all he should be used for. He did get some important goals for us last season but, as I said, only as a sub.

I don't think Baxter is going to make it with us. Even Anichebe gets more regular game time than he does which suggests he's not up to scratch.

I'd also like to see a bit more of Mcalaney (spelling), he looked promising and it's always nice to have a youngster with no fear up front.

Anyone that Moyes is willing to give a chance. Out of the players that will get a chance:

Anichebe and Gueye. Gueye got given a lot of chances but rarely showed much potential, Anichebe got given limited opportunities but usually fked up if he got given too much responsibility e.g. second derby.

Rodwell was having a pretty good season until he got sent-off and the unfortunately injured. I think he would have had a very good 11/12 if not for that.

Players that won't get a chance to "break-out":

Barkley and Vellios. Both would have had break-out seasons in 11/12 if Moyes had given them a fkn chance!

Listen harsh on Coleman I think, had a great debut season and was really good 10/11 season. He suffered injuries last year, a good pre-season and a few games under his belt he'l be fine.

I'd love for you to be right here , but I just don't see it happening for Seamus at RM , could do a job at full back , but cant see Moyes putting him in there ahead of Neville or Hibbert this season .

Big season ahead for Jack Rodwell , and agree with the sentiments regarding Jelavic , hopefully he can start this one in similar fashion to how he done since joining in January .

At this stage, you'd want Rodwell to be starting every week, and playing well really. You get the impression that last year he was nailed on to start when fit, but then he got injured again and we bought Gibson in, who has done well, so who knows. But yeah it'll be deeply disappointing if we can't get a full season out of him, now.

Duffy's likely to be loaned out just because we're good in the CB area for now, which is fine. Anichebe's probably off.

I'd like to see Barkley starting games really. I'd be upset if we don't give him a real run in the side, (I was upset that he didn't get one last year).

As for Vellios, I'm not sure whether I want to see him used as first sub for us or sent on loan. He's got goals in him, certainly. But if he's going to be stuck in the reserves, we'd be better off sending him to the championship for a year. If he stays, you'd want him to get 6 or 7 goals and a decent amount of game time.

And Coleman needs to be starting at RB.

But the thing is, it's not all on the player's back, Moyes has to be brave enough to play them and so far he hasn't been.
