Its recruitment plain and simple. Since Martinez's first season - when we got in Barry, Delefeuo, Lukaku, McCarthy etc... - each year the recruit has been average at best and shambolic at worse.
We've spent shed loads of money on bang average players and slowly made the team worse and worse.
Even last year, when we brought in the midfielders we needed, whilst all 3 are quality players, we have only been able to rely on Doucoure as the other 2 are injury prone. However, we then turn a good window into an average one again but loaning out a series of players who whilst are not world beaters, we could have done with over the course of the year.
We need to stop overpaying for rubbish, and get in the young, keen, hungry, fast, dynamic players or the cycle will just on repeating
