What will it take for us to be a "big" European team?

Player Valuation: £50k
Club value? Big Stadium? Big name players? Titles? History?

Take Juventus as an example,
Biggest team in Italy, but only worth about half the value of the other big teams around Europe.
Highest paid player (Higuain) is only roughly on what we're supposed to be offering Rom.
Stadium capacity 41k.
Pretty consistent champions in Italy.

What is it about Juve? even though they are not the biggest, Europe's elite fear them and often fall to them, only today they beat Barca 3-0. How can that be us? What will it take?

Compete at the top of your individual league, win cups, and compete in semi finals or finals of Champions League regularly.

Stadium capacity is only a big deal if, like us, we are in a super competitive league where every penny counts. Juventus and Bayern have a stranglehold in their league and only compete against Dortmund, Roma and Napoli, all three of which a some way behind. Bayern and Juventus always pick off the best of these teams players.

England is actually easier to win because the teams at top are more even, so you have a greater chance. English teams since maybe 2008-09 have been actually quite poor in both Europe and in the league.

England had some truly great players, and plenty of them up until start of this decade. Look at the midfields in England now, they don't compare anywhere close to the great midfield individuals and combinations of last decade. Same with the defence, so many poor defence individuals and combinations in comparison. Only area that England has still had great players is in the forwards.

Loads of money, loads of media exposure, global marketing, big name players, oh and winning the Champions League more than once would probably get us on the right road to bigness.
The media are the ones these days that put the "big" label on clubs, but in the end, results can't be ignored. Win things, and the accolades and "big" will soon follow.

Juventus are a HUGE club. Italian football has been on it's arse for years. Look at AC Milan as an example.

Simple answer is Everton need European titles to become a European elite.

Is right and the only way for that is to play in Europe. People crying about Thursday, Sunday and flying miles away for EL games don't understand, regular European competition breeds a certain mindset and makes Us more likely to push deeper into European competition.
If we could've competed in the 85/86 European Cup I'm sure the experience/knowledge of the previous years success coupled with the amazing team we had would've seen Us have a great chance at winning it.

Achievement in the modern game.

The more we win and the better we do and the more of a too club we become. No-one cares about the past, no-one cares where Chelsea were when we were winning titles, they only care about the here and now. So win stuff and out ourselves in the spotlight consistently and there you go.

Haha what lad?

Higuain was signed for something like £80m and is on more than double what we are offering Rom in his new contract.
