I think Donovan would be most likely and would love to come over but, that is all in the MLS' hands and they could jack up the price unreasonably high.
Where has this come from that we would owe MLS any money?
Hes has contractually obligations to LA Galaxy, his club - and not the league which he plays in. It is however, up to the Galaxy who would want a hefty fee.
I agree it makes no difference to the point that he will be expensive, but I see this point quite often and it just isnt the case. MLS would want him to stay in America because his commercial appeal to audiences/fans. That is all.
But lets sign him anyway, as he gets us, his position in the team and the efforts required to be a success.
Rodwell at CB? Not for me sorry. He needs shipping out.
Fellaini behind the striker...Im still not sure... I just think that Timmy has been so ineffective that Maro has looked awesome in that position because he does the things that Timmy C did so well.
Remember that performance against City at Goodison at Defensive Midfield? I just think it showed that long-term that has to his position.
Just my opinion though gents, I equally respect any of yours, including the original poster.
....
Just as a final question, where has this Barkley 'superstar' fanbase come from?
Dont get me wrong, Ive heard the same noises coming out of the club that he is going to be awesome, but I dont think we can rely on him or the prospects of him being a worldy.
Remember Vaughan? Broke records...career petered out.
Big Vic? Everyone said amazing things when he came into the fold...nothing more than an impact sub at best.
Rodwell? Again just not cutting it, whether it be injury problems that are not of his doing or not, he isnt what we hoped.
Going further afield..
Michael Owen, Francis Jeffers, Joe Cole, Jermaine Jenas...the list could go on...theyve all had success in their respected careers, Owen especially...but None of the above have hit the heights we thought they would...
So what I think im saying is lets not get too excited about Barkley. I hope he becomes a blue great, but forgive me for being pessimistic.
If Barkley was as good a midfielder for us as Owen was a striker for Liverpool i'd be ****ing buzzing.
Sell Jagielka? No no no no no no. He's one of the best defenders in the league.
I've got a better idea. DON'T sell Jagielka.
This all day.
Don't forget, Joe Cole won 2 league titles at Chelsea, not bad for someone who didn't "hit the heights."
No sorry that wasnt my point, probably my fault for rushing my post whilst eating curry for my lunch (messy experience).
Im not saying that Joe Cole or Michael Owen have not been successful.
I think we all expected Michael Owen to be, just as he said himself, the all-time leading goalscorer for England. Because of injuries, it didnt quite happen.
Joe Cole was literally seen as a god-send to English football. Again, was successful, but never a Rooney.
Conclusively, all im saying is that I think we are making ourselves believe that Barkley could be our 'saviour' when this remains to be seen. Lets give the kid room to develop and if he does become a genius then lets hope its with us.
Again, apologies for not being clear...this curry is sensational mind.
