I'm honestly starting to think you are no more than a wind-up merchant.
Benitez played negative football and supposedly knew how to organise a defence - and we kept losing. Benitez was wanted out by the majority of fans because he was a poor manager with no recent track record of success, whose entire legend is really built on a couple of spawny cup wins with Liverpool nearly 20 years ago. He got rid of all our creativity without replacing it because 'he always knows best'. He was determined to bring in the likes of Rondon, Longstaff and McNeil. Utter terrible footballers. Benitez was effectively going to be the man to complete the seeming ambition of this board to destroy the club.
If we sack Lampard now (and yes, he has made a load of mistakes too) it would be letting the board off the hook again. Who would we bring in to keep us up? Who is available now that wasn’t when we appointed Lampard? Because it seems to me, we had to choose between Pereira, Lampard, Ferguson or Rooney. Again, because our board are incapable of effective decision-making. They even cost us by taking so long to appoint Lampard. Giving him 24 hours to get some transfers in, leaving us incredibly short. Who's to say that if he had longer DVDB and Dele Alli wouldn't look like better signings because we were also able to secure a defender and a defensive midfielder too?
There is no one who will come in at this stage and keep us up. Either Lampard squeezes something out of this useless bunch, or he doesn't. But if someone else comes in, there is no magic man to keep us up and it also gives the players the excuse again to down tools and not accept responsibility.
The attribution of fault goes in this order:
1) The board
2) Benitez
3) The players
4) Lampard
So he is the least of our problems.
