Soppy one this....
I miss talking to my Dad about the match - he died in 2006. He took me to my first game in 1965 and the rest, as they say, is history!

I miss the competition where a different club could challenge and possibly win the league, think Villa,QPR,Ipswich,blackburn,Spurs,Forest,Leeds,Newcastle....ok perhaps not Newcastle

The early prem days, before United's dominance and Chelsea's richness were boss
92/93 - Norwich lead at Christmas, Villa go mental and challenge with United in hot pursuit before finally securing it without kickinng a ball when Joe Royle's Oldham beat Villa away
93/94 - More cut and dried than the first season, but Blackburn emerge as contenders, while newly promoted Newcastle finish third courtesy of Andrew Cole being a sick, merciless barsteward
94/95 - Newcastle begin with six straight wins and newly promoted Forest also have a spell at the top before finishing third
95/96 - Newcastle, complete with home record of 13-0-0, are 12 points up on United at New Year before collapse
96/97 - Sheffield Wednesday are top and still have a 100% record by the end of September, Wimbledon are in fourth spot and seriously chasing leaders Liverpool by Christmas.
98/99 - Aston Villa top at Christmas and look a good bet to actually win the title
99/00 - Newly promoted Sunderland third at Christmas, Leeds top the first table of the millennium before a disastrous second half of the season

I miss Cup final staurday starting on BBC and ITV first thing saturday morning and building upto the game all day, I used to love that really used to set the mood. Following the team buses, watching the fans on Wembley way. Letting the Captains give a run down and pee take of the players. That's why the FA CUP doesn't grab the attention like it used to. They have gone out of their way the FA to water it down.

Players being able to stay on their feet if someone dares to try and take the ball of them.

Indirect free kicks in the box, it doesn't have to be a penalty every time someone goes down.

Bounce balls being properly contested.

Playing on until the whistle goes when a players "injured"

Simple fair play. As much as the Euro Cup final was a great game the other night it absolutely infuriated me the diving and playacting that went on. Absolutely hate that kind of stuff, and the likes of Suarez shows that it pays to be a cheat so it's only gonna get worse

Anyone else remember how they would have a set of letters around the edge of the pitch and at the end of the game someone would come out and put the scores of other matches next to them? You had a list in the programme of which letter was for which match. Back then it was the only way of finding out what the other scores were until you got home or picked up a Football Echo. They then moved on to having an announcement via the stadium announcer. If we were near the top of the league thousands would stay after the game to get the results. If Liverpool lost there would be a massive cheer and everyone would wend their way home happy (assuming we'd won, of course).

They were pink they were. I miss them!

Probably kick off times. I hated standing, I only experienced it when it was on its way out, I was about six I think. I just remember not being able to see anything. I'd love it now of course.
