Just finished reamde by Neal Stephenson - swerve it lads. Usually one of the most inventive writers around, but this one's a completely generic thriller by his standards. Nothing in it to recommend at all really, although it is an easy enough read. Stephenson is a total bloatmeister, never saying in one page what could be said in five, so it's pushing 1000 pages as well.

Currently re-reading Harry Potter (On Order of the Phoenix at the minute) but I want to read The Hobbit again before the film is out!

I'm reading what almost every other woman on earth is reading...
Fifty Shades of Grey.

I don't really like it, but my sister is forcing me to finish it.

Skag Boys by Irvine Welsh. It's a prequel to Trainspotting which I love when I first read it at Uni but I'm feeling a bit let down with it so far. Has it's moments and delivers a good commentary to growing up in the 80s but lacks the laughs of the original

I read Trainspotting too when it came out and thought it was brilliant. But I was really disappointed with his stuff after that- I felt he was a 'one book' writer.

As are Glue, The Acid House and Porno IMO. It's only "ecstasy" and "Filth" of his I don't rate, to be honest. All the others are worth reading.

None are as good as Trainspotting though.

acid house, yes read that too, story about the lad turning into a fly was a bit mad,

reminiscent of Kafka's The Metamorphosis
