I like that the fella has a lot of Julian Casablancas from The Strokes in his voice but its too arty for me. Give me some power chords and a chorus and im happy.Yeah,I agree, I think the praise a bit OTT but it's probably because there are so little new bands breaking through to the 'big time' these days
I might not get Geese, but Portishead has clicked recently.
Ive tried with Portishead before and it didnt stick. Happened a few times with bands that require a few rounds, My Bloody Valentine was another one.I think it's a lot better to like Portishead
There is a good doc on how this album was made, cos of Geoff's hiphop obsession, he recorded it to an LP, stood on the LP for scratches and layered it to make it sound like the records of the time

I was listening to a podcast called Bandsplain that sparked the recent try. I'll have a look at that doc.
Im onto them, so ive probably seen it already. Went on a Trash Theory bender last year.The doc is done by the YouTube channel 'trash theory' they do loads of documentaries on albums/genres/scenes
