I am not enthused by Johnny's post-Smiths work. This song is pleasant enough.

But there is a tension I think in his music. He needs that louche and languid influence of you know who.

The Overture to Fidelio, his only opera but a masterpiece. My wife and I saw this at Glyndebourne, and had the pleasure of the company of the actress Virginia McKenna.

Very posh. Nothing is too good for Evertonians.
