I read an interview with Kirsten Hersh/throwing muses in the wire last month, and she was saying 4ad wanted to sign TM, but they felt weird being the only American band on their roster (and she was 19 and pregnant, so didn't want to do it alone).They took the phone call in a back of a van and the pixies were also in the van, Kirsten said it we'll sign if you sign pixies too and then they both signed
