Still marvel at the brilliance of this video. The song is fine as well, but wow, the editing and creativity of the video! All of Gondry's videos are terrific.

So I grew up in the era of the rubbish Indie bands such as Razorlight, The Kooks, The Fratellis etc. So I never gave bands of that scene a chance.
Having now listened to The Strokes its clear to me that they are the Oasis of this scene and those mentioned above are the Coldplay's and Travis' of this Indie/Garage rock scene.
Like Pearl Jam shouldn't be blamed for Creed (though Creed do have some bangers), The Strokes can't be blamed for the gash that followed.
Also just noticed the first album is on Rough Trade records who of course signed the best British band of all time in the 80's.
