Fantastic those Trance Europe Express albums, I've managed to track down 2 and 4, but not the first one. Used to have it on vinyl but got nicked in a record bag from a party I was DJing. Lost some absolute classics

They were something else weren't they? Volume published/released them and the little books with them are a great read, and definitely a thing of the early to mid-90's, when there was wonder, hope and experimentation within the electronic music scene and producers were putting such work into songs, remixes and also the packages that were being released.

You just think of the rollcall, Underworld, Orbital, Salt Tank, Laurent Garnier (as Alaska), Resistance D, Sabres of Paradise, Biosphere, Aphex Twin, amongst others.

The first one I got was actually 'Textures', which was a mix album with 2 discs, one by Darren Emerson (then of Underworld) and Dr. Alex Paterson (The Orb), featuring their favourite cuts of the previous four volumes. Hearing the remix of Moby's 'Go' fading into Speedy J's 'The Fun Equations' on Emerson's mix is simply beautiful. Paterson's mix is way more experimental but is really interesting, hearing the looped samples from Scanner pushing into Mouse on Mar's early electronics. I discovered Richard H. Kirk thanks to that album too!

Sadly I doubt if you're going to get them new, at anything other than at an inflated price from a reseller. You may have to look for them at less than ideal condition, if you want them. It seems unlikely they will be re-released too.

I've always wanted to hear those Textures mixes, Dazzling Darren's been a favourite DJ of mine for years. I've had TEX 4 from new, but picked up a copy of the second one from a charity ship for a couple of quid a few years back, couldn't believe my luck!

Reflektor by Arcade Fire.

Again. I've not stopped playing it since they destroyed Glastonbury the other week. Absolutely sensational performance and this album will have to do until I can get to see them live myself.

I know folks have talked about the TV show on other threads but I bought the CD this was taken from (and remixed apparently). This is not typical of the album but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Anyone who likes alternative Country and Western would probably consider it worth a listen. Film clip contains brief nudity.

I always find this song really emotional - while Joe Walsh is a loveable loon (he'd be an ideal GOT member), he has had his fair share of heartache, and I'm not talking rock and roll fake heartache either. One of his daughters was killed aged 3 on her way to nursery.

Now I belt out songs with the best of them in the car, but I can't sing this, I choke up and genuinely cry - while he's never stated it, I can't help but feel this song is about the event, if you listen. Please do, and feel...
