I'm still waiting for this record to
completely click with me. I mean, it isn't awful - it's just that I don't get the gushing praise it attracts. For me,
Ziggy, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Low, "Heroes" and even
Scary Monsters are better.
Still, when it's great, it's ace. Golden Years and Stay are superb.
Lest you didn't already know, by the way: this is the record he can't even remember recording, such was his consumption of the Bolivian marching powder. A life-changing retreat to Berlin to clean up wasn't too far off the horizon...
