What are you currently listening to?

I love songs that take you back. My gym playlist is full of DnB that I used to listen to about 5 years ago. Gets me moving and reminds me of some mad nights out at the likes of Chibuku.

They're the best mate, songs sound better when they have memories to them or just take you back to little things you enjoyed when you were younger. Tbh, that's what music is about. The emotions and memories it gives you/reminds you of. That and just good music is boss.

I'll give the BBC album a listen tomorrow, I like to properly sit down and listen to them. Bed soon for me.

Yeah for sure.

I think one of the best feelings to be had with music though is listening to something for the first time and absolutely loving it. It's hard to top. It's what I'm having right now with BBC actually.

Saw them last night didn't you? Seeing them in May.

I did. Let me just say this. I've been going to concerts since 1979. I go all the time.

This one is in my top five and it might be the best one ever.

They were magical. The only word I can come up with. You wouldn't think a band with acoustic guitars, a french horn, trumpet, trombone, and some drum and bass could rock so much at times, but they do. The crowd were reverent, and the band seemed really happy. What's funny is in the moments between songs, there's usually noise and people talking. When Mangum stopped and was changing guitars or whatever there was dead silence in the place. Almost like Church. Just waiting for a word from the eccentric genius with the magical sweater and long beard. He didn't talk much though.

Even though NMH isn't known for sunny, optimistic songs, there was a pervasive feeling of JOY in the room last night. Onstage and in the crowd. Obviously part of this is the time away and the fact that everyone couldn't really believe it was happening. But the performance itself was amazing. Every song sounded even better live than on the album.

I envy you because you have this to look forward to now.
