im currently listening to two annoying women talking about their nails.
Whilst on jury duty I had to listen to a similar conversation for 20 minutes...I nearly committed a crime myself, just so I could be taken away.
Thoughts?
Was my least favourite of their albums (huge fan of theirs) but I liked the slight style shift and I thought it was a good, cohesive record.
I like it a lot. Especially the first half. I preferred Swoon a bit though. I haven't really listened to Carnavas or Pikul so can't really offer an educated opinion on those.
It's really solid though. So many records, even the good ones, you can't just put on an listen all the way through, but you can with them.
Definitely.
Pikul's okay, but it's an EP and unrefined naturally as their first release. Swoon is ace but Carnavas is my favourite. There are some gorgeous tracks on that:

Is it me or is there a clear line to Gish-era Smashing Pumpkins with these?
Aye. That's the comparison they get -- often as a critique.
I like it though. I'm a Smashing Pumpkins fan but I think SSPU are far mellower and more considered. I find myself enjoying their stuff on a less... inconsequential level, if that makes any sense. Some of their songs have a lot more emotional gravitas than the Pumpkins -- at least for me, anyway.
For me that's not a bad thing. I liked the Pumpkins, especially the early stuff.
But I like Silversun better tbh for the reasons you said. Not as over the top so for me more emotional impact.
