What about Coleman?

Maybe that's right mate. Who knows! But as much as you can improve in training real games improve you the most. You'd think if he looked that bad defensively in training... Seein he's not getting on the pitch much anyway... Youd send him out on loan to improve.

True, but we're short on numbers so I would not like to see us loan him out. Hibbert's been decent this season so far so for me he's fine to carry on for now.

I actually think Hibbert has been pretty solid this season, but fact is if Hibbert doesn't play for whatever reason Moyesie will stick Neville back in there just to accomodate him in the team! Coleman won't get a fair crack at it until Neville packs it in, which after West Brom and monday night can't come quick enough for me!

The teams at the top have full backs who bomb forward. As G Neville said the modern day FB overlaps and also now underlaps. Hibbert struggles with overlapping... However he is solid defensively.

I think it's a myth that Coleman can't defend... No one on here as seen enough of him there to make that call. He needs to start getting games there and given chance to improve the defensive side of his game. Im not saying throw him in for a run of games now.. But over the course of a few months he needs to start getting games off the bench there.

You could see with mirallas and Hibbert that once they got to the final third there was no chance of some clever over/under lapping

Well said mate. It's exactly the reason I started this thread. We need balance going forward and to move into the modern age of football. I love hibbo, but we sadly aren't gonna get balance or move forward until we have a footballing RB.

He may not be getting a run of games because the one person who does see it in training, Moyes, obviously doesn't think he's up to it. If he needs to improve his defensive game, he better up it in training first.

He must see Neville and Ossy in a defensive midfield partnership all week in training, yet can't see what everyone of us can see. I think it comes down more to combination of stubbornness, fear and favouritism with him. He's been happy to "make do" at RB for 10 years. And I don't mean to be insulting to Hibbo, but he is limited as a footballer. Ideally we'd sign a good footballing RB and finally have a proper attacking right wing, but this being Everton that looks very doubtful and if Moyes hasnt sorted the problem in 10 years, he's hardly gonna sort it now.

So I think now it's time to give Coleman a rattle.

It's not really about whether he deserves it or not though, it's about putting out the best 11 to win us games.

You could tell Mirallas was crying out last night for a fast fullback who could bomb down the wing for him to play the ball to, Hibbert will never be up to that no matter what his form is like.

Coleman at RB (or another RB being brought in) is the number 1 thing we need to look at to improve our attacking play. Coleman just needs to prove he can handle the defensive side of the game, which he can't do unless he gets proper game time in that position. And i don't just mean 15 minutes against Leeds either, he needs to be starting.

Hibbo did look lost at times when Kev pulled into the middle and there was acres of space to bomb into.

There's worse young wing backs playing in the league regularly than Coleman. Worth a run out.

Jenkinson, Sagna, Zabaleta, Ivanovic, Walker...not exactly a who's who of wingbacks.

I remember Seamus' debut, against Tottenham at right back, he earned us a point fro two down i think, I would play him at RB for home games aginst weaker teams, and if we're losing maybe bring him on instead of Hibbert/Neville and play a more attacking game

I'd love to see this, hibbert is definatley our weak link even though he has improved the last few seasons.

We would be a very impressive attacking force with this setup... but we all know moyes prefers safty first

I wonder what Coleman has been doing in training for the past 2 years, right mid play or right back play?

Probabaly kind of hard for a young right back to learn the defensive side of the game if he's being used as a right winger.

Agreed mate, it's not Coleman's fault like, I think he's improved markedly on some parts of his game, but he's only going to get better at what he's been given time to practice.

he's a rb first. Surely as a defender the first thing he learned was the defensive side of the game. He has the basics, just needs a run of games to improve it.

Ive been thinking after seeing Mirallas last night, is it time to put coleman in at RB? Hibbert is a legend and a good defender, but he's very limited going forward. We all watch Everton week in week out and therefore know too well that everything (or the vast majority) off attacking football comes down our left with Bainsey and peanut.

Without a footballing RB we lack balance. So if you stop us on the left - you stop us full stop, as the second half last night demonstrated. Watching Mirallas torture Newcastle last night, and considering he isn't fully fit yet, surely it makes sense to develop what we have on the right to be more like our left. Imagine creating a similar partnership on the right?

So is it time for Coleman at right back?

You must be Irish.

I kid, I kid.....
