All Evertonians are entitled to there opinion but some of the negative stuff on here is an absolute disgrace and can only be the result of an obsessive anti Everton/anti Kenwright agenda. Have these people not yet realised that in todays financial climate in football, loans are becoming to some extent the new transfers? Loans used to be simple..just send a surplus player out on loan for a season .Now they are subject to negotiation and in many cases fees are involved. We paid a fee for Lukaku, and we outbid West Brom-good business. We don't know whether we are paying all, part, or any of his wages. My understanding of the early reports(and there is no guarantee that any of these are 100% accurate) is that there was no loan fee for Barry but that we were covering a good proportion of his wages. Absolutely fair enough-good business again. Bill managed to do some excellent negotiation late in the window(he IS good at this aspect of football!) and Martinez was able to use his knowledge and reputation to secure the players he wanted-good business. There is a sea change at Everton...we are being dragged by the new manager into the modern world of football, and this is good. There is no more dithering, we are positive in the market, buying and selling. Sorry if some don't actually like the idea of Everton doing something right, why don't you go and find something else to moan about, because the majority of good Everton supporters are sick to the back teeth with you.You know who you are.
Meanwhile another newspaper reports that RVP is unhappy with Moyes methods at OT. You just don't know what to believe, do you !

Our first 11 is arguably not stronger. The biggest problem we will have is next year when Lukaku goes, and we can't afford to buy him, because we have massively overpaid for McCarthy.

Look at it another way. Lukaku is a goal scorer albeit on loan yet he obviously strengthens the team, but more importantly it buys time for Martinez to get our couldn't hit a barn door strikers of Kone and Jela to get there act together. Martinez has sorted a problem out and now it is up to the other strikers to find form or I assume they will be gone at the end of the season. We may of paid over the odds for McCarthy but its not the first time we have done that taking Bily as a prime example. You haven't even give McCarthy a chance. He might surprise you by raising the tempo of our game. He is a bright prospect, still young (yet with experience) so don't write him off yet. Even without Felli I feel we are a stronger team and squad but thats my opinion.

RVP looks pretty unhappy at Anfield, lashing out at the rs players. Its was strange

Arteta and Piennar were both loans initially and went on to be 2 of our better players of the last 10 years.
I love the Lukaku signing even just on loan as he fills a huge gap. Barry is good business cos if he proves himself we can buy him on a free whilst Deulofeu is a real prospect who we can't buy cos of his potential but we get to see him in Blue and hopefully he delivers.

and its also possible we could get another season loan out of Deulofeu

The only real disappointment for me was that nothing came of the Martinez Indi rumours came to nothing. I hope we go back in for him as Feyenord it seems were willing to do business.

Yes we have defenders, but Distin is currently the only left footed center half we have so he will need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

It's amazing how influential a manager can be in bringing top quality players to the club. Both Lukaku and Barry have mentioned that Bobby's style of play was a major factor in their decision to join us. I wonder if they would of done the same had Moyes been at the helm.

Well hasn't Moyes struggled to bring in players for manchester united himself? If that's the case, Lukaku etc never would have joined us under Moyes. Not bashing him btw.

If we'd missed out on these loan signings people would have been incredulous about that, 'outbid by West Brom FFS' etc

I think Lukaku was the best loan signing this window. He'd have cost similar to Moses, so at the going rate, it's a great deal.

Chances are that if Barry proves his worth he'll get an extended deal and it will have been worth it, if not then he gets released.

Utd seemed to have have us under a barrel at one point but thankfully the roles reversed. Mostly because of their abject failures in the market. It seems it forced them to make up the difference in the price for McCarthy and avoided Felli's bonus.

Bill is ****ing ****e at negotiating....it's essentially "we can offer you two sheckles, we're skint, do us a favour" and every now and again he gets lucky with this approach borne out of necessity.

Take a look at the Rooney deal, we were completly shafted on Europe's hottest prospect.

Give credit where it's due, have you not noticed the monumental upgrade in our grass cutting equipment, well done Bill. Oh, by the way, can we find a buyer now please?
