I also think it's fair to say Naismith's 'form' at the start of the season was an incredible purple patch, the likes he'll never see again. Yes, good goal against City, but his all-round play is abysmal, and nobody can argue with that. Does more harm than good in the starting line up.

Tonight I was delighted with Phil Jagielka, a heroic performance.

Robles and Mirallas vying for MOM, while Lukaku continues improving.

Baines, Coleman, Barry and especially Barkley all bloody awful.

Why don't you just shut up?

yet Barry was great since we went down to 10 men. those long passes negated the man difference and put West Ham on the back foot.

He admittedly has picked up his play the past 3 games. The mistakes are there though. He forced McGeady to draw the 1st yellow and he stepped up and lost the 50/50 challenge in the 119th that almost resulted in a late WH goal. I hope he can work it out because hell he isn't going anywhere.

Likewise their keeper to be honest. The majority of the penalties were poorly hit.

Agree with this.

Sadly most of them didn't need to be well hit.

I always give goalkeepers a bye ball in shoot outs but both Robles and Adrian were dreadful.

Robles dived for every one of their pennos before the kicker struck it meaning he only had to wait to see which way our man was going and stroke the ball the other way.

There was one all he had to do was stand there and the ball would have hit him on the leg.

Even the one he saved he was halfway there before the West Ham player struck it but he just hit it toward Joel any way :(

The proof of how poor the goalkeepers were comes in the fact that not one player missed the target, except Joel hitting the crossbar which I do believe is classed as being "off target".

If the goalkeepers were making themselves as big as possible and not moving in advance, the kicker is then forced to think about it and this leads to mistakes on their part and the ball sailing over the crossbar or fizzing past the post.

We lost the pens but we've maintained the recent improved form. There's still room for improvement but I'll be surprised if we
don't get that win we've been waiting for against WBA.

RM has been under the cosh and I've kept out of it, but some of his selections and substitutions are baffling.

McGeady starting ahead of Mirallas doesn't make sense. Taking Besic off instead of Barry. Why?

Incidentally, my coverage came through ESPN and the commentator told us at the end of extra time that Robles spends a lot of
time after training practicing penalties. Saving them, not taking them. Really? To be fair, he was OK apart from that.

This the same Rom that missed two sitters from about a yard, and mishit the one he did score? Yes he is putting the effort in now and thats great, but for 28 mill he has to finish better.
Ffs mate give him a break - he lost his childhood best friend less than a week ago and still scored a goal and a penalty playing 120 minutes.

He is a human not a bloody robot.

I think Mirallas is still less than fully fit hence McGeady bring selected ahead of him.

And I don't think one can fault Bobby for keeping Barry on the pitch.....he was immense as we kicked on after the substitutions.

He is a much better passer of the ball than Besic.

Honestly can't see how anyone can be moaning about our performance after that bubblehead got sent off. 1-0 down away with 10 men. And we end up equalizing and then taking the lead in extra time. 10 men playing at breakneck pace for 120 minutes (apart from Barry tbf) No one missed a penalty apart from Naismith and our goalkeeper. The players ran themselves into the ground. Has Robles ever had a better game? Our striker scored, then wept, and then played on. Honestly, the moaning really gets up my nose. I'm totally gutted and understand how people can hate the result, our season, football, even Everton, but whining about the performance.

Are we ever going to defend a lead again... I'm not into moral victories, ...sure good performance with ten men, but the plain fact is our defending has been catastrophic this season, and to throw away that lead after working so hard to get it really just sums us and martinez up..... sickening
