Great midweek away support, quite astonishing really.

Spot on mate. And to a man, woman and kid they stayed right until the end and clapped the team off. Gutted? Yes. Proud? Damn right they were because they saw 100% effort and commitment tonight and that's the bare minimum we ever ask for. Brilliant support, best in the land FACT

Absolutely gutting as that was, a win next Monday will be way more important than getting into the next round of a tournament with all the top clubs still there lying in wait.

Kev did tonight what deloufeu did when he came on last season,we miss him mirallas was a game changer tonight, but should be a starter if fit,but we need that del factor off the bench.
Kev is a superb player and the biggest price we'll pay for the stinking PL form this season is that unless we win the Europa he's out of here unfortunately.

Just realised that [Poor language removed] Adrian threw his gloves off on the run up to scoring his pen. What an absolute whopper. Wish he missed so bad.

Still feel sick! Played amazing with 10 men, were the better team and didn't deserve that. All they did was boot it to Carroll's head, was pathetic! I hope this doesn't knock the lads confidence even more as that's the big worry! Joel was fantastic but felt he was diving far too early in the pens, made it easy for them. Barkley was a disgrace in that game and should be benched on Monday!

Guys, I've just got to say I'm proud to be a Blue tonight. Total commitment in the face of adversity. I only watched from about 70 minutes in (didn't realise the match was tonight 'til a mate texted me!), so missed the sending off. However, from when i watched onwards we were top notch. I attribute our recent return to form with me drinking Adnams Broadside during the match ;-) I normally watch a game whilst drinking a beer with an appropriate football theme. Badger's Poachers Choice is another good one. Call me superstitious but i reckon it's like the twelfth man (or eleventh in this case)! I haven't been drinking Broadside for the last couple of months and look what happened! However, i managed to get a few bottles in time for the City match, and that game was a well-earned point.

Mirallas is class, we have needed a player who can run at the defence like that for so long (Drenthe looked promising until he stabbed us in the back). As for Robles, he went up a long way in my estimation tonight, some excellent saves, and I was gutted for him when he missed that penalty, which was SO close. Clearly we should have had a penalty in extra time, and in fact we have surely had more than our fair share of bad refereeing decisions going against us in recent games, which is so unfair for a team that plays with such integrity. Never mind guys, it wasn't to be tonight - but we're still in Europe, and now we can also concentrate on getting back to where we belong in the Premiership - top six. Not that this will be easy this season with the great form of West Ham and Southampton, but we're still in with a realistic shout. When all is said and done i think we have the best squad we've had for many years, maybe since the mid Eighties, so it only needs a bit of tweaking to turn us into a consistent top team. I'm glad Martinez has seen the error of his ways and adopted a slightly more direct style recently, because it was becoming frustrating with the lack of shots on goal. In summary, no, it wasn't to be tonight, that's part of the magic of the FA Cup, but i will extend my respect and gratitude to every single one of our lads on the pitch, they epitomised what Everton are all about tonight and should be truly proud of their efforts. To them, a big thank you for understanding what wearing the shirt is all about.

I completely missed this match because I'm an idiot. In the pub my friend (a Chelsea supporter, but he's alright... no, really) even said to me "So is your next game West Brom then" and I was like "In the Prem yeah but we've got an FA cup replay against West Ham on Tuesday first" and still nothin clicked. Apparently neither of us had noticed that today was Tuesday.

Can't work out if I'm gutted or glad to have missed it.

Since start of December:
Hull (h) draw, City (a) lose, Krasnodar (h) lose, QPR (h) win, Southampton (a) lose, Stoke (h) lose, Newcastle (a) lose, Hull (a) lose, West Ham (h) draw, West Ham (a) draw.

D L L W L L L L D D

Six defeats and a single victory. 10 goals scored, 17 conceded, zero clean sheets.

Next fixtures:
West Brom (h), Palace (a), then Liverpool (h), Chelsea (a)

We will not take more than four points from those four games, and if that is the case we'll very likely be around 16th/17th come the middle of February.

Ouch.

EDIT: Still think we'll win the Europa League, so this classifies as a positive post.

good performance but it means [Poor language removed] all if we don't build on it the next few weeks. confident we will though

up the ton!

True mate but what was important was the continuation of showing fight, commitment and pride in the shirt which we got in abundance tonight. I said to you Dave after the Hull game it would take 10 performances on the spin with all of the above before I started to forgive the tits for the shameful performances they were putting in. This is game 3 of showing the bare minimum of what we demand which is desire, effort, sweat, running the hard yards and we got it in spades tonight. 10 men, 60 odd minutes and at times we were purring like a rolls Royce in extra time. That confidence and swagger that's been missing was showing it's beautiful head again. Game 4 against West Brom, expecting us to absolutely destroy them tbh because I think we are back and will be much stronger for this. Gutted we got beat tonight, but I can rake it on the chin and say they done me proud tonight

McGeady was a danger going forward?

What goggles have you got?
He was a danger mate ...

... to the blades of grass to the left of the goalkeeper's goal in the first half.

Those daisycutter powderpuff shots he kept on insisting on were a crime.

Realistically it's 5 points, provided we play how we have the past 3 games.

Beat West Brom, draw with Palace, draw with Liverpool and lose to Chelsea
