Legend, he hasn't played a game yet.

As for...

"it is not out of the realm of possibility for Davy Klaassen to, in time, position himself to become the Toffee’s first non-British captain in club history".

Erm...Peter Farrell.

Dave can you please confirm you are at least sitting out in the evening sun with a nice glass of red whilst perusing this fine forum? I'm worried about you.

Just sayin', non-British captains...

Quite right DAve...and I've always wondered how he managed to play for the Republic of Ireland AND Northern Ireland. He signed from Shamrock Rovers with Tommy Eglington just after the war. I was 5 !!

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK) or Britain, is a sovereign country in western Europe. Lying off the north-western coast of the European mainland, the United Kingdom includes the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and many smaller islands.[11] Northern Ireland is the only part of the United Kingdom that shares a land border with another sovereign state‍—‌the Republic of Ireland.

Its like everydays an actual school day for you isnt it Dave.

That. Great mate, thank you, for this section alone i think he will quickly become a massive hit at Goodison...

while production may have fluctuated at times, his desire never wavered. I call out every Ajax supporter to think of a match where Davy looked disinterested. I am not talking in terms of quality – form dips and peaks for every footballer. I am talking about his determination and passion on the pitch. Even in the most disheartening of times, Klaassen never stopped running.

If true I can see him becoming as much a favourite as Cahill was for us

How's his heading ?

Last time I looked Dublin is in RoI mate. I might be wrong like. Maybe it's drifted off into Cornwall now?

There must have been a non Brit captain, even if it was for just a game or 2.

But either way.

Like this lad.

Peter Farrell was born in Dublin and lived in Dalkey which is also in Dublin mate!! Incidentally he died in Dalkey also.

Im not going to have a discussion on the borders of the BRITISH ISLES mate.

Just admit that your being a pedantic anus and we can all get back to rejoicing at Davy K, the chosen 1, not Dave K, the, well, lets leave it there.

Afternoon Blues,

An English Ajax supporter here. Yes, Englishman following a Dutch club. My auntie and uncle moved to Amsterdam when I was 12 and took me to my first game in 2002 vs Den Bosch. It was my later teens/early twenties when I really fell in love with the beautiful club from Amsterdam.

I'm absolutely gutted about losing Davy Klaassen to you guys but he's gone to a great club rather than just for the cash tinted glasses. I think under Koeman will be the making of him in the Premier League.

I'm part of the only English Ajax website on the net and one of our writers has put a piece together for you guys on what exactly you can expect from your new signing. Hope you like it, let me know your thoughts.

All the best for next season, I'll be following you guys and Davy!

Sadly any Ajax fan will know you simply bring through and buy young players and then sell them for profit. Great business model however ultimately success at higher level such as champions league will always prove difficult losing your best players

Ireland had one team and they then split. But the southern team was still the free state and we had not gained independence quite yet. So there was a disagreement on who could play for who etc...

Some player continued with the IFA or Northern Ireland and others played with the new free state Ireland
