AJ, Carsley and Fernandes - agreed these are the meaningful losses. If they can be replaced by:
- Rodwell
- Baxter
- Golsing (?)
- Moutinho
- One other experienced midfield signing
- One or two squad players on loan

...then I see our squad being no thinner, and probably longer on quality, than last season's.

But time is getting tight for the last 3. If we don't bring at least 3 more players, I hope we get dumped out of the Carling Cup early to reduce the strain on a small squad.

True enough CT but experience is the big problem. I think we could do better than what people think without any additions but the youngsters will have a big part to play. If only Vaughan & Cahill could stay healthy most of the year then we should be fine. We are Everton and we must continue to plod on.(y)

Yup, that's the key. A full season with those 2 fully fit would be like starting the season with an extra 12+ goals (and the consequent points) - as compared to their availability last season.

I believe Moyes will keep Cahill on the back burner until he feels he is ready to go 100%. I feel he will be absent the first part of the season as a precaution. Vaughan just needs to get his head on straight and play smart.

down down in an earlier round, sugar were goin down swinging

12th or 13th i reckon - we pulled away from all our challenegers, now this summer they have all surpassed us. unless a miracle happens, i think anything inside top 10 is a good achievement based on our current state with 10 days before kick off

last year around this time didn't we all bitch and moan about the lack of transfers, and that we would finish lower than in the year before? Then what happened? we finish one place better.

well, I'll call for a repeat of that. 4th it will be, gentlemen!

Looking at it as honestly as i can i think its too hard to call. If we can advoid any major injuries and a few of the kids can step up and do a job then i can see us getting 5th again due to having an established squad that can have a good first half of the season while other teams around us are still settling in.

But unless we get more numbers in we are gonna limp over the finish line again. A few long term injuries and kids not making the grade and its top half at best.

At some point we will make some signings though so i'd say realisticly i see us equalling last year at best, 5 place and a couple of decent cup runs. Maybe out of 2 cup competitons early and then a damn good run in the remaining one, preferably UEFA.

4th or above is out of the question, we had to strengthen to even think about that and we havent and i dont think we will sufficently enough to have a proper chance. Sad to say that but i'm just being honest. I'm still hoping fingers crossed everything comes good though :)
