Wenger Leaving Arsenal

I've seen an awful lot of old Arsenal clips today and one thing has struck me that I'd completely forgetten.

How bloomin good was Robert Pires. Ridiculous baller.

he was brilliant. Made the game look so effortless.

I know the team above is a piss take... but it showed Kanu's hat trick against Chelsea today. When he scored from the corner flag

Here's mine

the best joke team available, and it would destroy us, one of them is even our best player!

They have had great players, but given how long ago the majority of that team actually played, it gives a good indication as to why Wenger stepping down probably is the right thing at this moment in time. He will rightly go down as a legend, but for me he hasn’t had a truly great side since they won the FA Cup in 05 then reached the CL final a year after. His defensive recruiting has been really poor for a while as well. The way he managed to combine the defence he inherited with the star talent he brought in when he initially arrived was fantastic, but he’s struggled to find that balance for a while. Still though, if we manage our stadium move as well as he managed there’s then I’ll be happy.
Will always be one of the most underrated achievements in football, not sure many managers could have done that, but more tellingly not many would try, most would have walked away crying poverty and lack of ambition, meanwhile wenger soaked up the criticism and secured a clubs future

I suspect that Arsenal have been planning for Wenger's departure for a while. Whether he jumped before he was pushed is open to debate but imo the club will already have a shortlist of 5 or 6 coaches as possible replacement who I think will be unveiled well before the world cup starts, and even before the season ends. Contrast this with our board's position regarding Sam.......is he going or staying and if the former have we a shortlist of realistic tatgets? Don't hold your breath people...

Imagine the scenes if they get Brenda.

Arsenal fans are ungrateful swine. I wish we had a manager who won us even half the number of trophies Wenger's won for them.
That is harsh lol This isn't about trophies, in fact some of my favourite years were when we won nothing. But the point is, at least we had a go. The players felt motivated, and the supporters were energised.

When the same problems persist (a shambolic defence/players walking around the pitch/refusing to sign players who actually want to come to Arsenal etc.) then there is a major problem. That's why we are beneath Tottenham right now, something which was totally unthinkable just a few years ago.

He is being bundled out of the club in a very undignified fashion which his own fault. He won the FA cup last year, he should have just left then on a high. But no.

If we don't win anything for the next 10 years, I'm not bothered. As long as we play attractive flowing football and at least play with motivation.

You are still far, far better off than we are. I mean, when is Allardyce going to manage Arsenal? When hell freezes over.

Arsenal fans are an odd bread, they've spent the last few years raving about Wenger demanding he go only to get all overly emotional about it when he decides he's had enough.......FB_IMG_1524419308721.webp

Why couldn't he leave it until the season had finished to announce his retirement? Now we are going to be subjected to weeks of vomit inducing arse licking (am I allowed to say that in front of the children?) before we get the whinger out of the way. Alright I have to admit that his record speaks for itself, but he isn't the nicest of characters when things aren't going his way (think Klopp here).
