Just to take a break form talking about millions as if it were confetti, a nice peice about the club to put life into perspective!

Everton have been entertaining a group of children from the troubled Ukrainian region of Chernobyl this week.

Martin Waldron, the Everton Academy's Head of Schoolboy recruitment, is the driving force behind the visit.

"I support a charity called The Friends of Chernobyl's Children, which basically does as much as it can to help these poor kids who have suffered ill health following the nuclear disaster in their hometown," he explained on evertonfc.com.

"English families ?adopt' a child of Chernobyl for four weeks and we engage them in as many activities as we can. They came to Finch Farm to play some fun football and do some physical exercise and they have loved it."

Academy coaches Robbie Anderson and Ian Lavery put the youngsters, aged between 7 and 12, through their paces and taught them how to strike the ball, score goals and then celebrate in an appropriate manner!

Following the session, the children were presented with bags of goodies by local businessman, Mike McComb, who has generously provided financial support for the charity.

"We gave them toys, books, colouring equipment, footballs and Everton souvenirs," said Martin.
"Then we took them to McDonalds for lunch. Statistics have showed that spending a month over here with us in England can add at least another year to their life expectancy."
