Welcome changes to offside rule

This change would probably be a really interesting one from a strategy standpoint. Suddenly condensing space and pressing becomes hard and less viable. Does that make games worse because teams play deeper more condensed games around their box or more entertaining as there is more space to work in between the lines? Honestly who knows! It'd be fun to find out.

What's funny though is I think people want this to fix VAR and make it so offside calls don't ruin the vibe of the game they're trying to enjoy. And it won't do that! You're just drawing a line at a different spot. There are still going to be close decisions and VAR is still going to make these people mad!

The big problem is that the chimps in the VAR booth are the ones who determine when the ball leaves the foot of a player who makes the forward pass. That is judged completely arbitrarily and so the whole issue around 'clear daylight' or 'in line with' is a sham.

Welcome to Everton Changes. Hope you do well here.

Bit of a mouthful that surname though.

This is an underrated comment. I often silently disagree with Davey, but because he called the var officials chimps, I felt obliged to add my voice to his.

Dont know why they have to make it so complicated.

Should just be if the part of your body that scores a goal was ahead of the defender then its offside.
Why is "the part of your body that scores a goal" less complicated than "any part of your body"? You could end up analysing where exactly on your foot you struck the ball before deciding offside or not.

It actually sounds a lot more complicated than just "any part of your body"

Any part if the whole goalscoring body behind the defender eh? Does this include the whole of the defender or just the part nearest the goal, and is ut a gialscoring part of the defender? If not I can see defenders with tiny feet coming to the fore for VAR. Either way there'll still be arguments and VAR awarding a penalty to the rs.
You're onto an idea here, boots with the toe painted green. Artificially trim down the length of respective feet so they blend with the grass.

This is impossible to officiate when you don't have var and the vast majority of leagues don't have var. It affects the game at every level not just the top level
