We should be replacing McFadden

Anichebe rarley starts and scores his goal as a substitue so if we put in his substitue appearances.

it reads.

67 games 10 goals. [5 goals in the Prem]

1 goal in 27 appearances in the league last season.

Doesn't look so good now.

He's still decent mate, I don't see how you can moan about a 5th choice striker. At the end of the day thats what he is, he's behind Yakubu, Cahill, Vaughan and AJ.

He scored 6 goals last season and for a player 5th in line that's decent. If he does it again I'll be happy, maybe with a years more experience he can get 7 or 8.

because hes not 5th choice anymore is he?

Cahill isn't a striker.

As it stands we start the season with Yakubu the only fit striker, Vaughan slighly fit but how long will it last?

Ok, you made me do it. I have to go and prove a point.

Right.

Andy Johnson - 22 goals from 74 games
James McFadden - 11 goals from 119 games
James Beattie - 13 goals from 76 games
Tim Cahill - 29 goals from 101 games

Ok, AJ has a better record than Cahill, but the other 2 don't. And your saying we need to replace McFadden, and Cahill can't do that job?

Fact is Moyes plays 451, most clubs do. It's not 1985 anymore. Clubs play 3 forwards, so a 451 can become a 433. United do it, Chelsea do it, Liverpool do it. Moyes does it. We play better with one striker. You can't tell me that replacing McFadden is more important than bringing in some more creative midfielders?

Haha...

McFadden with 11 goals in 119 matches?

I'd almost go with that however you left the * out when quoting that.

How many of those matches were from his true position of striker and how many from the midfield?

I'm fairly confident that had Moyes given McFadden more time up front than in his midfield, those numbers would look much much better. In fact, I'd say they'd be right in line with one Mr. Tim Cahill.

Well the coach obviously felt Cahill would do a better job, hence why he played him. And Moyes is the manager, he is under more pressure than of us, so why don't we give him a break.

Getting sick of all this badgering of the club officials. They have a difficult job.

Oh I'm not doubting Cahill was the better option.

I'm just saying that McFadden was never ever given a real run up front as an attacking option for us.

I'm guessing he'll get that chance with Birmingham and we'll see how it turns out over the longer term.

Cahill is a second striker, he's as much a striker nowadays as McFadden was. It's not like Faddy was out and out, he played off the front man like Cahill does. Exactly the same really.

Cahill doesn't play as a centre midfielder anymore, he doesn't even play as a third attacking midfielder. He's a second striker in a 4-4-1-1 system.

Cahill is a midfielder, so why would we replace a forward with a midfielder?

Who mentioned him being McFaddens replacement?

The fact is Yakubu is the only fit striker, what happens if he gets injured?

Yeah, we can become more dynamic. We can have Arteta and Peanuts running down the wing and acting as extra forwards, Cahill and Moutinho in the middle adding support, guile, and brilliance. Yak up front ready to **** them in.

Its all good, (if we sign Moutinho).

Also looking like we will sign this Topal too, so maybe you will get your wish, that being the case - selling AJ was not forced on Moyes to raise funds for other players.

Im not arguing the fact if we signed moutinho and play 4-5-1 we'd have a brilliant attacking side that plays good football, but we need a squad that has good players who can come in and do well at times.

Whenever Yakubu looked unarsed Moyes dropped him and played Johnson and that threat was there that Yakubu knew he had to sort out his attitude, we have bad luck with injuries and i cant vision many times last season we would have fielded our full strength team.

I don't see why we can't get a replacement in. We will do, Moyes isn't stupid.

I'd have liked to have heard of advanced talks or signed one for a replacement before selling him, thats all.

And I think that's a fair observation.

I think though that regardless of what we have in the kitty or lined up, that Moyes wasn't gonna turn that deal down and felt that he had to act now before Fulham's interest cooled.
