They were trending down and West Ham up. Over the 10 games till Dyche's sacking they had less PPG than West Ham. It wasn't a sure thing at all.
Definitely not a sure thing, but I think more of a chance with him than not. We were trending down too off memory but managed to get us to hang in there, well, a missed penalty in another game did it for us.

Not that keeping this expensive squad up should be an achievement mind.

I think the only think you can say about Dyche is that he’s streaky

At both us and Burnley he’d go long miserable periods winning nothing but then he’d pull a run of victories out of the bag against the form book

Every chance he could have done that with Forest I suppose

It seemed the sensible option, see the season out and pay him off. That being said maybe lardy has designs on the uefa cup as a priority

For all we joke around on here, getting rid of Dyche was stupid on their part, he would have kept them up.

Nah, he got them 7 points clear and then somehow managed to drag them back down to 2 clear. As others have mentioned all of their numbers were trending downwards when he left. He’s a manager who makes you a worse team the longer he’s there and gets to embed his prehistoric ideas more. As I called back in November, Tenbellies was never going to allow scraping 36 points and 17th become the objective for a team that he invested £450m into. Sacking him was the correct decision, whether appointing Pereira was the correct decision, only time will tell.

But also as I mentioned he had the ability to pull something out of his arse like he did with us. I definitely have zero horses in this race as I could happily see Spurs, Forest, West Ham go down and not shed a tear.
