We need a 'real' captain...

If you've not got the level of determination and organisation to shut up shop when 2-0 up away from home... then, I think you do need a 'real' captain.
I know what you mean Andy but would hope we had more than one person keeping things organised and think it is a collective responsibility. Can it simply be the captains fault we concede two goals like that? I accept you need people filling that role. Just think it should be much more than one.

Captain should have an amount of experience and a leader with the respect of the players and a winner. We dont have anyone that fits the profile.

Totally agree mate, but if we had a really strong character wearing the armband, I think it would help. A captain leads and encourages those around him to do better, if our squad all could do just 5% better, we'd likely be a force ;)

players thesedays have gone soft.. there are very few truee captains especially in the pl.

coleman is a good player but i dont consider him a leader, same with baines. i couldnt remember the last time i saw a true captain tbh

who will be our captain in 5-8 years?? kenny? davies? keane? these players are wimps compared to duncan. even jags was on the softer end.

Kenny. Duncan as a Captain would not be the greatest example in the world. He was sometimes a massive liability with that temper.

tl;dr Jagielka is a bad captain because he doesn't shout at refs and isn't like Ferguson. Who was, let's face it, a complete psycho. I mean, he's a lovely man off the pitch allegedly but he could be pretty horrible on it, and a captain's no use if he keeps getting banned for beating up opposition.

Coleman is the most obvious choice for me as a replacement. Baines should never be captain. Too quiet.

ETA: do all captains in the EPL act like this archetypal heroic captain you all want Jags to be? Apart from Noble.
