We must be poor in training...

I have been watching our performances all season and most of the time I have come away thinking that we are terrible when a team presses us hard AND/OR we are just not quick enough at pressing them ourselves.

This leads me to question what kind of training we are being put through. We clearly aren’t having training matches where our first team are pressed hard and also some of our players are either not athletic enough for today’s PL or are not fully fit.

I don’t blame Carlo 100% for this as I am sure he knows how to train players by now but he may have his hands tied by the fact that the players beyond our first 11 are just not capable of testing the first team in training.

I do wonder if we train similar to the way boxers do where they get a new sparring partner every round or two so they are always facing a fresh partner even when they are tiring.

I think we should be calling on our 18s, 23s and the surplus first team players to rotate in for 10 minute spells to with their sole instruction to run like mad to press us as soon as we get the ball.

Is last paragraph you advising the multiple Title and Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti how to take a training session?

Dear Carlo,
I am aware that Everton are currently on 32 points from 17 games but it is obvious that "we must be poor in training"
If you are struggling for ideas, may I suggest that you log in to the GOT forum and seek advice from some lid who calls himself @UltraVires.

My mate works at Finch Farm and told me they just play heads and volleys all day.
I heard a rumour from a reliable source that they play Five Lives all day and that Cenk is always out by 9:05 am. Those out by half 9 are made to play Raw Arse, which might explain why the likes of Seamus, Davies and Cenk himself struggle to run on the weekends.

I think we are too quick to discredit any criticism because Carlo obviously knows more than us.

Having said that, it is obvious that some teams are better at certain aspects than others and every team has a weak area of their game.

For us, I agree it is fitness and conditioning. Our roster has a lot of guys who are not fast or quick (James, Gomes, Gilfy, Allan, Mina, Keane) and a lot of the them do look gassed as the matches go on.

Carlo obviously knows better than any of us or all of us put together, but I do see an area of improvement. That's not something you work on during the season though. The trainings that he is conducing are just fine. Fitness and conditioning are a preseason aspect. Usually an 8 week program and the rest of the season you are just maintaining. A lot of players do and should do this on their own. Hope this is something that we work on next off season season both collectively and individually.

Yeah I think the main issue is, our squad ay the min doesn’t have many ‘athletes’. So when teams play with high intensity, we’re shown up.
Look at the massive difference Doucoure made in the cup game when he came on.

It’s also the reason I’d try and keep Godfrey in the 1st 11 for as long as he’s fit.
