Most interesting piece here is 'Last year we had to do it (sell), this year we didn't have to do it as we had already sold Tim Cahill (to New York Red Bulls) and Joseph Yobo (Fenerbahce),' he added.

'It wasn't a necessity to do it this year but I felt it was the right thing and gave us a chance to have a look around to see what we could do.

'We are out there actively trying to bring in another couple of players at least.'

That to me = 12mil in the bank + enough for wages due to the loan signings +mcfadden etc all going.

So, if the fee is 6mil for Mirallas then we obviously have 6mil left to play with....

Niangs club Caen are looking at 5-6mil with HALF up front.....arsenal offered 2mil up front and it was rejected....

Read into this what you will.....but i'd guess if we also get Niang then we have 3mil left.

that's the way I read it as well. I think we've actually received a bit more than the £12m up front (purely based on what some itk's seem to suggest) but that'll disappear to the banks along with any other add-ons we received for City winning things etc - should still see us have the £12m to spend now though

I think we had a bit of cash available before rodwell was sold and now it's been added too.

Naismith and pienaar already in and I think well see up to 4 more new faces before the window shuts.

4! Mate, seriously?
After K.M maybe one or two before window shuts...imo
Don't get me wrong, I would love 4 :D

So did City pay the whole £12m up front then? And we know that how?

As I understand it all transfer fees are paid in instalments now.

Important year this year, as the tv money goes up next season. Would be foolish of the club not to reinvest the Rodwell money back into the squad.

depends on the individual deal - I remember reading how the person at Newcaslet who was in charge of selling Carroll to Liverpool was laughing his bollocks off cos he got them to pay it all up front. Liverpool apparently had to go back to Chelsea and say they wanted more up front for Torres so they could pay it

It would be great to get in more players after Mirallas but I am fairly happy with who we have got in, as long as we dont now sell anybody!

With Barkley looking as if he'll be gone for the season, and Niang being presumably a while off first team action (provided we sign him at all), I would assume that Moyes would be after some more midfield depth.

While I'd like to see us invest in a RB, we all know that Moyes is plenty happy with Neville or Hibbo, and if Hibbo plays like he did last season, then I have no problems with that. Coleman is there as well, if the need arises. Anichebe and Vellios look as if they are staying put, and with Mirallas coming in now, and Landon in January, he'll probably deduce that we've got enough striking cover as well.

I suppose that's where the Adam/N'Zonzi rumours may hold some water. Even though I doubt we'll be picking up either of them, I reckon with Rodders, and now Barkley, on their way, Moyes will want a bit more. Unless Cisco is a gun.

I just hope that along with Mirallas (should he sign) Naismith, the return of Pienaar and maybe Niang it could make for a very interesting season ahead. Fingers crossed that they "gel" as a unit sooner rather than later and that the goals start to flow.
Wouldn't it be nice to see an Everton player getting 20+ goals in a season..... oh those were the days
