Charleston, South Carolina
I'll be there for a couple of days in early March mate.

Any recommendations on what to do?

It's an overnight stay and we'll be eating out. Can you recommend a good restaurant?. Me and the missus like BBQ food, especially those babyback ribs you do so well:)

one of the games of the season I think...bit like Arsenal last year...or the Man city game...good to see a good post here, with all the moaning going on it's easy to forget what it's all about...glad you enjoyed it, come again :)

Oh, sure! Charleston is a great city with excellent places to eat. My 2 favorite BBQ joints are http://hometeambbq.com/ (amazing smoked wings) and https://swigandswinebbq.com/ (drive to their star Summerville location and we will meet you there). Also, this place is sort of new but run by a local BBQ legend...I have been there once it was very good too: http://www.rodneyscottsbbq.com/ All would require a short drive to get to.

Just walking around downtown Charleston near the Market and the Battery is a beautiful and historic area. There is also Ft. Sumter (where the American Civil War started) and USS Yorktown (WW2 aircraft carrier across the Charleston harbor in Mt. Pleasant). Both are very interesting if you are into some history. If not, just taking a carriage ride around downtown is nice and informative. There are superb restaurants downtown with Charleston/Southern specialties like shrimp and grits - you can't go wrong with any of the ones down East Bay St. e.g. Magnolias, High Cotton, Slightly North of Broad, McCrady's (expensive but the best food we have ever had), Poogan's, Fleet Landing and others.

I'll send you a private message shortly as well.

Cheers mate. That's great.

We're actually on a cruise and won't know the details until we're aboard; but normally for an overnight stay we arrive late afternoon and leave late afternoon following day. So time wise we're pretty limited. Guess the cruise terminal will be pretty close to downtown so sounds like most things are quite handy. Really fancy the Yorktown, and I think my missus would like that too as her dad served in the navy in WWII. Depends what the access/transport is like though as we'll be pretty pushed time wise as I said.

Will send you a PM once we're aboard.
