We dont have a snide

We lost the closest thing we had to one when Cahill left. There was no one cute enough to go through Yacob today, he set the tempo for Brom, he scythed down Pienaar and Jelavic and Baines today in the opening 20 minutes and didnt get punished, we then saw a distinct lack of bottle as our lads looked around at each other to see who would contest this little c**t and no one stepped up. So Reid got in on the act and started hacking at players as well. We got no way near the amount of freekicks we usually would, and certainly no way near their end. To blame just the referee is wrong, he was woeful but that is no excuse for one of our outfield ten to not stick a nasty in. Every side needs one, some teams have multiple 'game closers'.

We dont stay on the deck and roll about looking to get other sides booked, we rarely if ever leave a foot in, and when the game isnt going our way and the other side wants to fight it out in no-mans land we just do not have the steel.

How Hibbert was booked first today for his first infringement was a joke. Playing like gents and abiding by sportsmanship is great if everyone is at the same game, they are not.

I think if we'd have wacked that Yacob prick then it'd have been a sending off, the ref consistently gave them everything. That's not why we lost today though!

You say this under every account suits and still anyone sensible doesn't want any of our players to "stick a nasty in".

Except on you maybe.

All credit goes to WBA. Thought they took advantage of our utter gashness and made us look like complete sh*te. However they went about doing it, they did it well. Hats off to em. I'll leave the ref out of this post but yeah, well done WBA.

i said this before we played today, we got robbed a few times by that [Poor language removed] of a ref last season, and although im not saying it was his fault we lost today, it certainly didnt help.

They did an "Everton" on us today, got about us closed us down and didn't let us settle,I thought the effort was there, they just deserved it on the day and will give problems to a lot of teams at the Hawthorns this season IMHO.

Heitinga was on the bench. Heitinga definitely brings that to the game.

Rumor has it Kevin has some snide in him too. If we had brought that into the game thugh, the ref surely would have ejected them. Just not a good day today.

Agreed, we played well a lot of the time but as much of the time we were awful, went from lovely 1-2's and triangles, dinked through balls and nice crosses to Hoof ball to Fellaini in a heartbeat. Ref didn't help but we were far from as bad as some think, fair play to Brom, they were simply better and took their chances.
We should of had at least one pen and a series of blatant free kicks that weren't given, but football wise, when we did get the chance we looked well off the pace, they however looked dangerous every attack.

Back on topic, if we had even the remotest snide it would of been just the excuse the ref needed.

I think Johnny is our 'hard man' who isn't afraid to make a proper tackle, he if anyone I think would have shown that yacob whose boss

which snide, if you could pick any from another team, any team, do you think would fit neatly in with our current team whilst also providing the required level of snideyness(sp?) ???

Case in point: Neville goes in strong on Ronaldo, gets booked (harshly) we come back and score and we get a 1-1. It is considered the catalyst of the season and our form picks up dramatically.

Playing football the sweet science way is fantastic, but the sweet science way doesnt always work, especially when the opposition decides to make the game physical and try to bully the football players out of the game.

Case in point: Today - Pienaar. Fouled more than 10 times, 3 serious. Not one Yellow card.

There are a legion of these types of players, Vieira, Keane, Cattermole, Mascherano, Essien, Makalele, Carsley, Parker, Tiote, Dacourt, Diop, Diarra....

I also hold true to the belief we dont make the most of opportunities to con the referee like other sides do to us. Cant beat em, join em.

Helluva question, Essien.
Just looking at Moyes record, M'bia, Essien, Cana... he was even looking at Henry from Wolves... a point and shoot WMD if ever there was one.

While a bit of aggro can be a good thing when we need to stop good players having time on the ball we don't want a Lee Cattermole who can't play a 20 yard pass either.

Except for when he forearmed Bendtner in the face after clearing the ball I can't think of any other particularly heavy tackles Heitinga has put in. I do remember him cacking one against Blackpool and losing a 50/50 with Jason Puncheon which cost us a goal, like. Is he really that hard?
