We are on the march!

Can't wait, hoping to get to a couple of the aways - never travelled to European games with the blues.

Hope we take a good following like last time we were in European competition, and not embarrass ourselves like Newcastle taking 27 people or whatever.
I'll try to make at least one of this games. Never been to a European away myself. Discounting Fortuna Sittard away in 1985 as that is my home town team.

It's also now a necessity to strengthen with RM saying we'll need a larger squad for the competition.
Bill will have to get his cheque book out.
Never saw Traori or Kone on the lap of honour yesterday , perhaps it was a bit too far for them.

It is only in England that the competition isn't rated. I'd say scrap the Capital One Cup to follow suit with the 1 National Cup per country like the rest of Europe have.

I think its taken reasonably seriously in this country, just that often the places go to inferior teams (wigan and swansea).

The only team who disregarded it totally was Spurs cos Harry laughably thought Spurs were above the competition.

I remember Martin O'Neil throwing it in the last 16 against CSKA Moscow with Aston Villa when they had a real chance of winning the thing.

TBH I am not sure if anyone cares about Europa league
Unless we win it

That is the british media talking - and as ive said before if qualifying for europe is seen as a punishment if you dont get CL, then football as a competitive sport just doesn't exist anymore - if there are only 4 places that are worth having then really its pointless for most teams. It used to be a big thing to qualfy for europe, but the media now convinces fans of teams like us that it is a punishment. Not necessarily thinking us as we seem to be up there most years, but for anyone below 7th this year what is the point apart from survival?

Again its the media

The other thing that really really winds me up is this thought that because we'll play more games our league form will suffer. Teams have qualified for europe for decades, most of the time when you had smaller squads, and it hasnt destroyed their league form (again, based on this "champions league is all that matters" rubbish). The media are a joke - just wait til the first patronising "united/spurs pleased they didnt qualify for the europa - everton are delighted though" article.

Its great for the fans, and we have every chance of winning it, and it stops the season becoming a groundhog day of the last 5 years as we have something very different to enjoy. Cant wait for the draw, the first away european game i can go to, I finished uni in 2009 so couldnt afford to go that year, and we havent qualified since!!

Straight into the group should mean the board can budget so we can get players in ASAP said in another thread we need 2 centre midfields, 2 wingers and 2 strikers. Rotate the squad keep players fresh and hopefully we can win the thing. Does winning Europa get you straight into the Champions League or entry into one of the qualifying rounds. 15 games to win it and the additional revenues and exposure should help us attract better players. Champions League qualification would have been nice but may have been a year to early!

Not only do we enter the Europa league stages but do we also miss out on round 2 of the League cup and go in at round 3?
