Agree with a lot of what you say mate, apart from Klassen in a 3. Three managers this season have barely given the lad a chance this season (including the manager that bought him). I’m curious as to why you think he could do a job for us. Personally I’d ship him back to Holland ASAP. As this transfer (fee and wages) has to go down as one of the worst buys in our history.Sick of the sight of him to be honest. He wanders around the pitch doing whatever he wants and demanding the ball only to give it away, I can't think of another player in the league this season who has wasted possession for his team as much as he has for us and he's never admonished for it until last week when he was hooked in the derby and proceeded to strop about it.
He's had his good moments no doubt and I do think he's one of the few who actually cares and wants the club to succeed but he's simply nowhere close to being the player he was and really doesn't belong in our best XI, for me that would be a midfield 3 of Gueye, Davies and Klaassen. The new manager next season needs to be firm and tell Rooney he's not an automatic starter and he doesn't like that then leave. If an offer from MLS or China comes calling in the summer I think he should be encouraged to take it, his days of being a force in the PL are over.
holding us back every time he plays.
The best midfield 3 we can possibly play now is Davies Gana siggy(when fit).
Highly competitive trio who will win back a lot of possession and feed Lookman onyekuru and Walcott next season. Width pace and tenacity with such a setup.
Wow, sad to see how our standards have dropped.Best player on the park for us again yesterday. Well done to him for bouncing back recently.
Is that last bit a joke? Serious question. Drink driving, smoking, drinking, awful attitude. Great influence yeah.I’m going to stop short of saying he’s finished because I don’t think he is, however, he’s played far too much football for us. We keep him around next season as decent enough back up and for his influence off the pitch.
It shouldn’t be down for him to accept it, it should be down to - could we, as a club, justify paying a bit-part player our highest ever salary p/w?Thought he was excellent before he had a bevy and got into that Mini.
Since then he really hasn't fitted into any system or side.
Cool Pen against THEM but he is being overran by mediocre midfields like Swansea.
With a new manager, I can see him being a bitpart player like Duncan under Moyes but whether Wayne can accept that is another matter.
MLS or China would snap him up but doubt he would go.
