Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Feel a little uneasy at the wages etc being touted. However, on balance I think it's a gamble worth taking, it can't be underplayed how he'll raise our profile, I think if he's supplemented by a few quality younger signings it's a real statement of intent. Also I think some of the naysayers might be surprised how invigorated he'll be with a change of scene, players can just get stale if they stay somewhere too long. you multiply that by coming home, it could just work.

Looks to be massively on, im sure all those who dont want him will still support the lad.

I won't.

I won't be against him either. He is just another number.

The thought of his stupid gurning once a blue face when he gets his first goal for us is knocking me sick.

(Unless its in a derby...obviously)

Valencia will be cheap in comparison to what Everton will find for other strikers come summer. Valencia will be a passable squad player. You're right about one year having passed - Schneiderlin, Gueye, Lookman, Williams, Bolasie and Calvert-Lewin in, Davies up from the U-23's with Holgate pushing his place. In case you've missed out, things are changing. It doesn't happen overnight.
Thanks for the condescension, but trying to spin Valencia as a positive most be is naive at best and, frankly, laughable at worst. I state, again, if the best forward we can get after a year of looking is Enner Valencia then I don't know what the point of Walsh is.

We won't.

But, Valencia has done fine.

He's not great. Not good enough for where we want to be competing and we definitely need an upgrade. But based on how he's performed this season I've got no hard feelings for the lad.
I've no hard feelings towards the lad either. His limitations are not for lack of effort but he's not good enough for us now which means he is far from good enough for where we want to go.

It's burning my head out to see people wanting him back because he's a superstar player. Were not Oldham hoping to get Scholes back for 1 season for a bit of glamour, or celtic trying to entice Roy Keane back for the bhoys. Were everton. One of the biggest and most successful clubs in England. We finally have a board with money and ambition, a manager who has a plan and a team going places. Why on earth would we want spud head back because he's a fading star?

[Poor language removed] him. He left when we werent good enough. Now he's not good enough for us.
Is right

If I could thumbs up 100 times I would. EXACTLY! This is the type of thing we would do with Moyes in charge, when all things were steady and safe.

We must show ambition!

Seeing as by me there were loads arguing about him at duncs testimonial I'm not sure you're right. I think the best you can hope for is a proportion of the crowd seething quietly and not clapping him

Thumb away. Does that mean I get a better player valuation.

In all seriousness though there's loads in this forum snagging the board off for no ambition and thinking like little old everton. Signing him is the ultimate in thinking like little old everton. It's gazza and ginola MKII but a truckload of more cash

This is spot on mate. And for those saying he isn't that old: no he isn't but he is clearly coming to the end of his career. He can do one and take his "brand" to USA or China.

I know we will sign him though, and it will be dressed up as a big signing, when it really really isn't.

The MU fans must be looking down at us even more now at how we need to take their cast off players on a free.

I think the problem is we struggle to attract top class good players and so are being forced to him on- I wouldn't be too surprised if he is our 'flagship' signing in the summer window.
