I love to see young talent coming through, even if its not at our club.

I remember Billy Kenny, and thinking he was boss.. I still think Jeffers was one of the best finishers I have seen, Rooney.. made it.
So many Blue Boys didnt though. A lad I was at school with was offered a contract and turned Everton down to continue his studies, I thought he was mad at the time, but the failure rate is so high.

Sterling could be very good, Zaha could be anything.. But this story I just read, brings it all home..

I liked this kid and thought he had a future, now he is struggling..

Anyone have any other lads who they thought would make it and didnt ?

JP Kissock was the next big thing at one point. At Macclesfield in the conference now after spells with Formby, Southport, Luton, Hamilton Accies and Newton.

Also, remember Freddy Adu?

My Dad turned down an apprenticeship at Villa in the 70's and stayed in the RAF, another lad who was offered one at the same time, also turned it down and stayed in the RAF.

Read about Michael Johnson this morning, probably been posted elsewhere but heres the link:

James Vaughan (Through injury) - think he would have been an amazing striker for us. That pen vs united in the semi was glorious.

Cadamarteri

Ferrie Bodde at swansea as well. He was pure class every time he stepped on a football field. Easily europa class playing for swansea in league 1 - sadly he only got on the pitch once a year

Michael Johnson and Billy Kenny must be two of the highest profile kids that lost their way.

There only seems to be about two photographs that exist of Kenny, it wasn't that long ago FFS.

This lad though, deary me...
