my beef was more with Ferguson blanking him then saying it was a tactical sub.

If Ferguson had tried to console him I bet he would have got the usual shrug off these multi million pound players like to give to a manager, Pogba took the p1ss out of Mourihno in similar circumstances.

Ferguson did right, blank him then sort it in the dressing room.

depends if you want EFC to win games or to try and breed potential talent for other clubs (not always successfully, like Vitesse Arnhem do/did for Chelsea)

Time will tell if it was right. It was a brave decision in the sense that it puts Duncan's decision making in the spotlight.

I'm not inclined to believe that it was simply to waste time, but maybe it was? Or maybe there is another reason and Duncan is trying to be diplomatic. Maybe he's sending a firm message to the boy and his team that woe-be-tied anyone that doesn't give everything or deliver as Duncan wants when you get a chance!

This does have the potential to damage Duncan's reputation with Kean and any allies of Kean, so could undermine him.

I imagine Dunc told Kean precisely why he subbed him off in the dressing room. He was poor, and I can see why he took him off ahead of anyone else.

He can make it right with him in training and hopefully he will react in the right way.

Me too, I think the players will side with Kean, that’s a move you pull if you think the other players agree with it and will make the player subbed get in line with everyone else. But the players will talk about it wondering if it could be them next. And do Everton really need any more issues at this stage? I hope the new manager comes in soon so this whole thing blows over.

It did look brutal. I've been so impressed with Duncan's start as manager that I don't want this issue to gloss over what was a very good team performance. However that's probably the reality.

It will be interesting to see how Duncan responds to this. I think he probably needs to say something tomorrow because this story is not going to drop. It will overshadow preparations for the game this week if he doesn't put it to bed. In all likelihood, I think he needs to make a grovelling public apology to Kean (as difficult as it will be to do it) and sit the lad down for a heart to heart. If he wants to get rid in January, he'll have everyone's support to do so.
