Wanner talk about Neville

completely out of his depth - hides from receiving the ball especially if he is facing our goal. The full back will look inside to pass it to him but he points to the centre half instead as he doesnt want and he doesnt know what to do with it

As previously said, he isnt and never has been a midfielder. Utd occasionally used him there 10 years ago when he had legs and would play the "high energy/kick Arsenal off the park" role which united will do against better footballing sides.

The game passes him by these days and the only leadership he shows is if we have a free kick on the half way line when he will rush over to pretend to take it

I struggle to enjoy watching Everton when he plays as he is not only ****e but he hinders us playing - i cant even remember him winning a tackle this season
You do wonder what some people are watching when they say he is calm on the ball - he is like watching a nervous 8 year old determined not to make a mistake ie simple things like receiving the ball and passing it dont come naturally to him

He's a perfectly acceptable bench player at this point. I know a lot of people think Moyes will never drop him (when fit) but I think if Gibbo and Mirallas are healthy at the same time (albeit the likelihood of that is 0.000023%) he wouldn't be starting games. Coleman is likely ahead of him at RB now and who do you drop of Fellaini, Osman, Gibson, Mirallas, Pienaar to get Neville into the team? I don't deny he is slowing down but right now (with Gibbo out), in terms of like for like, I suppose he would be keeping Hitz out of the team? You could argue for Hitz but it's hardly a crazy decision. The real problem is injuries.

Oh my giddy aunt

Pro
+ Good captain and leader
+ average RB
+ nice guy

Contra
- can't pass
- is very slow
- is miles behind our other midfielders

Jesus, my thunder has been well and truly stolen by this new paint chap. He's better than I could ever be though. I officially retire from paint duties.

Positives

Calm on the ball
Versatile (ish)
Big match experience
Leadership...manager on the pitch...blah blah

Negatives
Offers nothing going forward
Not getting any younger
Stifles our play sometimes.

I think I am one of the few who don't mind neville - model pro and have a lot of time for him. Just can't help imagining what we would be like with fellaini and gibson in the middle coupled with a flair player off jelavic.

That about sums it up to a tee IMO.
Great post!
