Cal

Player Valuation: £40m
Johann Vogel has left Real Betis by mutual agreement after enduring an unhappy year in Spain.

The Swiss international arrived at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera from Milan as part of the deal which saw Ricardo Oliveira go in the other direction.

However, he had not made a first-team appearance this season and was in the process of suing the club over unpaid fees owed to him.

The midfielder has failed to hold down regular football since leaving PSV Eindhoven in 2005 and will now be hoping to get his career back on track.

Everton were reported to be interested in Vogel over the summer and may be set to make another approach for the player now that he has become available.

Be a good signing if we get him.

They tried to make me go to rehab, i said no no no.

He did certainly increase the depth of our midfield, if he is prepare to show us what he used to be like, we certainly don't mind helping him getting fit and ready for the Euro 2008!

Another player that could find himself right at home with our Everton, he's looking to get his career back on track and Everton's recent history appears to be a good club for giving players that chance.

He would add quality and depth to the squad.

I'm sure his wages wont be too over the top, maybe in the 20,000 mark but for a short team deal, no one will complain.

actually made me laugh out loud... the song reference that is.

i think he'd be great short term, there's that chance that he'll fall apart, in which case i think a drinking contest between him and vdm would be immensely entertaining.

Im noty so sure about him, i remember him partnering Marc Van Bommel the year PSV got to the semi final of the C.L. But its my understanding he has only played 31 club games for AC and Real Betis since 2005!

Surely this means he is lacking fittness, shapreness, and genuine game time, not to mention how hard it is to adjust to all of the above in the premier leauge without prior experience.

Well, he has played 31 games and all with AC Milan last season, it just since his move in the summer he hasn't got a game, can't say he is no good but yea not quite fit enough due to lack of games this season!

bring in voggy-laaa

arteta is facing a three game ban
osman has a broken toe
gravesen has some injury
pienaar is africa bound

so all we need is for carsley and cahill to pick up knocks/cards and we'll have a full compliment of midfielders out of action.

something needs doing, because we still have a lot of games, vdm anyone?

!

Em, move last summer?
Em, played for Ac last Season?
Played all games for AC?

He actually played less for AC then anyone! I didnt say he wasnt good i just said i think we shouldnt sign him on the below playing record IMO! Considering what we are looking for is a straight away replacement for departing and suspended players ober the next two months! Doesnt make sense to sign give hel need prob 6 weeks to get fit and sharp and another 6 to get used to playing in the prem! For me someone who has played 31 competitve first team club games in the last three years isnt going to make a difference to our side.

Years Club App (Gls)*
1992–1999 Grasshoppers 133 (13)
1999–2005 PSV Eindhoven 169 (7)
2005–2006 AC Milan 14 (0)
2006–2007 Real Betis 17 (0)

Id like someone of the Arteta, Feernandes ilk, i.e. talented loan player that if there any good wel have a chance to sign art the end of the season! Seems to be Moyes's way and thats good enough for me!(y)

Hehe, I have to be honest I didn't go check out the appearance stat, just assume he didn't play for Betis at all, no wonder he is suing the club for not playing his wages!

yea, we do need 2~3 more Arteta and Fernandes type player but at the same time we need midfielder like him, who is experience and have couple year left, we always could do with a mixture of player, youth is good but we need some experience in the squad!
