2025/26 Vitalii Mykolenko

he is the one defender that Salah probably doesn't like facing as every time he plays he does naff all.

But as others have said he needs to improve going forward for us as he is not great in final 1/3
I think this is probably the kind of the thing @JimmyJeffers is meaning above. Mykolenko is a dogged one on defender and has done well against salah in that regard, but there’s more to being a good defender than that. In the 8 derbies that mykolenko’s played, salah has got 4 goals and 3 assists. With the best will in the world, that just isn’t ‘naff all’ by any stretch.

He’s definitely not above JOB in the pecking order for CB though, recruitment issues aside.

in the long run, you are correct. But at the moment the only time we'll see JOB at centre back is if 2 of Tarkowski, Branthwaite and Keane are injured.

Both our right back options are available and JOB is starting ahead of them. He's out first choice right back and that pushes Keane ahead of him at centre back.

Based on angus interview with baz, it seems to me that myko is very much part of the medium term future, so likely that he will be signing a new contract soon. Perhaps thats also why he decided to pull out from the recent internationals instead of risking aggravating an injury by playing for ukraine. He is a great squad player to have around...

@RAFUH

Start a 'Flirting with RAFUH' thread, I'm sure you'll see plenty of action. I promise not to participate...

Strangely, all the flirting stopped when I became a mod.

Not sure where the Myko hate has been coming from. He's solid defensively usually and but for any niggling injuries he's a nailed on starter for now,
