PL stadium in subdued atmosphere shocker.

The description of goodison for most league games is correct. The bit that's missing is the bit stating that every other PL ground is the same, most definitely including theirs.

Except for Palace mate. They do a boss German ultras jumping up and down impression

Some interesting opinions on Villa Talk about us. Particularly about our support who one or two consider to be "the worst in the league" lol.

I've always seen us as similar clubs and think they've got a great history and a great stadium. I reckon they're an underestimated club, a bit like us, but I suppose that's down to most of their success (particularly for league titles) being pre 1900 whereas ours was fairly consistent until the 90's.

The thing i've never taken to is their support though.

I found this post in particular the most amusing:

Absolute silence, HANDBALL! General whinging noise. Handball! Villa score against the run of play. Absolute silence. More absolute silence. HANDBALL! Increased general whinging. Villa have a corner, but you can't see this. Absolute silence. Everton equalise! Silence. Whinging. More whinging. The noise of Scousers moaning is getting in your nerves now. More whinging. Silence. Everton take the lead. "Everton, Everton, Everton!". Villa equalise immediately. Absolute silence. Whinging. Handball! Game ends.

Everton have the worst support in the league by a mile.

Has this lad ever been to Villa Park? lol

Their support has to be up there with the most disloyal in the league. Do themselves no favours with their "empty seats ma lord" song when it's usually them who has the empty seats, home or away. Some of their away turnouts in the past few years have been abysmal for a big club. Genuinely embarrasing.

Anyway, what are people's opinion of Villa? As a club, and of their fans? Here is the thread...

He's got a point, but I think that's what proper fans are like. Whinge, moan, shout, angry silence.

Rather that than those bells at Palace who try that 'ultra' behaviour even if their 3 0 down.

Proper supporters whinge.

Up to you really. You can;

1. Fume and let it ruin your day / week / month
2. Put it down to a few scruffy Brummies talking gash and move on

You're right mate he should have given us a poll so we can collectively decide what to do about this outrage, or provided instructions on how to react. I'm stuck here.

Villa is a big club with great pedigree. However their away support is very average in terms of numbers and noise. Only 4 teams in the country sell out away games consistently. That's United, Arsenal, the [Poor language removed] and us.

You would expect the likes of Newcastle, Spurs and Villa to have better away support than they do.

Thats a pretty accurate description to be fair.

It can be boss to be fair. Nothing beats some good venting and whinging for 85 minutes, until we score a brilliant late winner that makes the world seem great again for the next week or so.

The away fans will probably be bitter about it when the teams next play each other though.

As a completely random example, see the Villa home game last season.

For a club that returned the Upper Bullens at least two out of the last three years, they're doing a lot of talking.

Having said that, Goodison can be quiet on a daytime against a whatever team with nothing to rile the crowd up. But that's the price you pay for not having the manufactured Continental-type bang-bang-bang on the drum/ultras capo screaming into a megaphone what repetitive song the crowd should sing next.

Little beats the real atmosphere at a night game in winter when there's something at stake and the mist is rolling in...
