I am sure some of the older fans may be dismissive here, but here is another reason why I don't even think a European Cup should be valued so highly and equal to a League Title. I've contradicted myself a bit there as on an earlier post I did say the prestige of a European Cup was about level with a title, but after looking at the runs to get there, the more I think it is an overrated achievement.

Villa had to get past 4 rounds to earn a Final with Bayern Munich. They played:
Valur (Iceland) in the 1st Round. Valur have a current capacity of 1,524 lol.
Dynamo Berlin in the 2nd Round. They currently play in the 4th tier of German Football.
Dynamo Kiev in the QF.
Anderlecht in the SF.
So they played one game in the whole competition against a Huge European side and that was Bayern Munich.
In the interest of fairness, our own route to the Cup Winners Cup Semi Final was similarly easy:
University College Dublin in the 1st Round.
Internacional Bratislava in the 2nd Round.
Fortuna Sittard (Holland) in the QF.
After looking at this, I have far less respect for European Cup wins back then. No wonder Forest won 2 lol. I reckon Leicester would win it if they had 4 teams to get past starting with teams the same calibre that Villa played, especially when they strolled through their weak CL group. Also explains why 'The Hammers' have a Cup Winners Cup win, despite never having won an English League Title as they played a few teams we've never heard of and won the final against the Giants 1860 Munich.
